Job Description
- Establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with local authorities, mukhtars, community leaders, and / or political parties in the neighborhoods in the area of responsibility
- Distribute leaflets on rights and services to beneficiaries during house visits and during information sessions
- Facilitate focus group discussions and carry out surveys at community and household level to determine needs and interests of communities for information sessions
- Develop information sessions with support from Protection Team
- Arrange logistical needs (e.g. invitations, refreshments, transportation) for information sessions
- Facilitate information sessions with support from the Protection Team
- Ensure all beneficiaries of information dissemination are well informed about Concern Community Response Mechanism (CRM), the services of CRM and how to access them
- Identify potential cases in the area of responsibility through household visits, CRM and self-referrals
- Carry out rapid needs assessments and protection risk analyses in cooperation with Protection teams when needed
- Make timely referrals to case management and individual protection assistance teams within protection and / or to other departments of Concern depending on identified needs and risks
- Inform the Protection Manager on any unexpected situation or changes in the field conditions
- Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
- Any other duties as agreed with the Program Manager
- Understanding of and experience working in specific protection areas (i.e. child protection, S/GBV, MHPSS)
Job Qualifications
- A university degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field, with demonstrated experience in social work, protection and child protection, and human and refugees’ rights.
- Minimum 5 years work and practical experience in protection and child protection related activities and social work.
- Computer, Microsoft office and English language skills is a must
- Demonstrated Knowledge of UNHCR's mandate, programs and activities as well as values and principles.
- Excellent reporting skills in protection and monitoring including detection of cases for referrals for protection, legal or health assistance
Acquisition of a driving license and clean criminal record is a must
- Good communication skills and ability to speak with individuals among the refugee community as well as all protection actors in the field respectfully.
- Good organization and reporting skills.
- Energy to work long hours and be working with the community all day.
- Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in a similar position in an NGO
