Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Communication
- Communicate with the monitoring and evaluation officer to discuss mapping plans and issues
- Coordinate and communicate data collection with other mapping agencies
- Communicate technical issues with UNHCR
- Assist other Medair mapping teams to use the Mapping data to support their work
- Communicate implementation problems or issues to Project Manager
- Coordinate and conduct trainings on mapping processes for other humanitarian agencies
- As required, representing Medair in IM meetings in Zahle or Beirut
Data Management
- Plan data collection with the monitoring and evaluation officer
- Implementation of daily data management procedures
- Updating and managing the ArcGIS Online Platform
- Manage and monitor data collected by Medair and other partners
- Ensuring proper archiving of project data.
- Reporting
- Validation of monthly data releases to UNHCR (IAMP)
- Creation of maps for partners, donors, and other Medair teams
- Creation of story maps and additional products as needed.
- Help in the development of quarterly reports, progress reports and SitReps
Management
- Plan the daily activities and supervise the data collector teams
- Line manage the data collectors’ responsibilities and deliverables
- Make sure that the IAMP is delivered on time and with good quality
- Conducting field visits with the Data collectors to monitor work and assist when needed
Teamwork
Work where required to help the various activities carried out by Medair
Person Specification:
- Academic studies in GIS or in a relevant field with experience in GIS
- Significant experience of GIS data manipulation, data management and map creation
- Good working knowledge of geography and culture of Lebanon..NGO or community engagement
- Experience in managing people
- Strong working knowledge of spoken and written Arabic and spoken and written English
- Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS
- Technical aptitude to pick up digital data collection methods
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Good working knowledge of database creation and maintenance
- Passionate about serving the poor
- Self-motivated/Enthusiasm
- Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
- Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner
- Ability to adapt communication strategies for different situations
- Ability to manage small staff team
