Assistant Researcher

Access Center for Human Rights is a non-profit non governmental organization dedicated to reporting and documenting human rights violations against refugees in Lebanese since 2017. ACHR is a team effort of journalists, activists and volunteers passionate about promoting Fundamental human rights and documenting human rights violations against refugees in Lebanon.

The project aims at documenting and reporting human rights violations against refugee community in Lebanon.

 

Position Title: Assistant Researcher

Reporting to: Programs Manager

Duty Station: Beirut, with occasional field trips. 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Directly responsible for the documentation process of individual and collective cases.
  2. Fact checking field monitors’ data through field visits.
  3. Following up with field monitors and providing needed consultancy in dealing with victims.
  4. Coordinate data delivery and preparation for data entry under the supervision of the project manager.
  5. Maintain contact with victims, their families, lawyers and other sources for case updates, respecting victims’ privacy and safety.
  6. Drafting reports and press releases on urgent violation cases.
  7. Managing website and social media content.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant Degree (social work, journalism, law…)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in human rights advocacy, documentation and a fair knowledge of humanitarian research and monitoring and documentation methodology.
  • Fair knowledge and sensitivity on the refugee situation in Lebanon.
  • Proficient in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Microsoft programs, Google drive.
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

EXPECTED STARTING DATE: ASAP

CONTRACT DURATION: 3 months - 1 year based on performance.
