FSL Business Development Officer (Part Time)

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Review all materials related to the assignment such as: program proposal, program implementation plan, program training materials, program publications, brochures, booklets, etc.
  • Analyze the existing documents of previous needs assessments in the region & underline the gap, the needs and the successful projects. Methodology should include desk analysis and collection of primary data, such as focus group discussions, business surveys, key informant interviews, and market observations
  • Focus on the analysis of the current markets and the livelihood capacities and competencies of potential beneficiaries in the project areas including production capacity, efficiency, business models, and gaps
  • Underline obstacles, risks, and opportunities that are unique to men or women, youth or adults.
  • Conduct a needs assessment for target producers, farmers, cooperatives, and SMEs
  • Implement the business development activities mentioned in the proposal
  • Deliver business development training for target producers, farmers, cooperatives, and SMEs
  • Provide producers, farmers, cooperatives and SMEs with business coaching and mentoring sessions
  • Develop business tools for target producers, farmers, cooperatives, and SMEs that help improve the quality of their operations
  • Follow-up with producers, farmers, cooperatives, and SMEs on progress
  • Work closely with MEAL officer on measuring and analyzing results of the coaching and training activities

Reporting

Reports directly to SIF’s Beirut Office, to the Food Security and Livelihood Program Manager and program coordinator. S/he will submit the following reports on weekly and monthly basis:

  1. Monthly reports submitted to the FSL program manager describing the status of the business development activities. The report must contain information about activities, meetings, and results
  2. Progress reports submitted to the MEAL officer and the FSL program manager after every training/ coaching sessions showing results of improvement and pre and post-tests.
  3. Final report submission

Person qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in business administration, Agribusiness, or related degree
  • Minimum 3 years of business development/operations experience
  • Experience in accelerators, boot camps or entrepreneurship projects is a must
  • Previous experience in mentoring
  • Previous experience in humanitarian work is a plus
  • Has a clear understanding of business models and business operations especially for start-ups & SMEs
  • Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken skills in both English and Arabic

Confident and proficient in the use of MS office, especially word and excel
