Research Officer

OBJECTIVE:

The Research Officer is responsible for providing high quality research review and context analysis in addition to analyzing qualitative and quantitative data through different methods for theory of change

DUTIES:

  • Desk review of material relevant to the projects and good knowledge of the context of Lebanon
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis collected through interviews, focus group discussions, Observations and other methods
  • Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter
  • Have ability to present credible findings and providing conclusions, lessons learned, and recommendations supported by the findings
  • Review and analyze the matter, identify and discuss options for next steps in the framework of the project and its rules, including providing relevant information and referrals
  • Ensure that the projects are delivered on time and in accordance to the budget and to the required quality standard (within agreed specifications)

  • Ensure the projects are effectively managed with relationships with a wide range of groups (including all projects stakeholders)

  • Analyze assessments to identify opportunities for potential community interventions within villages along with respective engagement, mapping and networking

  • Producing high quality and varied research outputs for a range of audiences including analysis, report writing and presentations where necessary 

  • Delivery of particular work strands relating to our research. This will include taking personal responsibility for key elements of work as well as supporting others in the team. Perform any other duties to support the project research and conflict resolution in carrying out its functions, as assigned, including research and contributions to various activities

  • Making sure our work is participatory, including working with peer researchers and valuing the importance of communicating with different audiences

  • Good research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results
  • Excellent and effective written and oral skills. Ability to present information in a concise and accurate manner, proven ability for preparing comprehensive documents and reports
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals. Solicits input by valuing others ideas and expertise and is willing to learn from others
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and monitor own work and that of others
  • Ability to work under pressure and uses time efficiently. Identifies priority activities and assignments, adjust priorities as required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in team environment
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic; French is a plus
  • Excellent reporting, communication and interpersonal skills

Computer Skills

  • Good computer applications skills

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • A good understanding of advanced statistics or econometrics and the ability to apply these techniques in practice.
  • More than 5 years of relevant experience in results-based management, professional project management and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Prior similar responsibility under Donor programs is desirable.
  • Have previous experience in Lebanon and previous similar responsibilities in implementing similar context projects and activities.
