INTRODUCTION

Project Background Information

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI is managing several projects among which a project funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) aiming at improving livelihoods in vulnerable communities through the implementation of reforestation and forest management activities.

The project is operated by LRI’s offices in Jdeideh, with support from LRI field team in the North.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

LRI seeks two full-time Field Officers for Akkar and Danniyeh region for the period of 16 months from August 1st, 2019 till November 30th, 2020. The Field Officers will be based in Akkar and Danniyeh regions to help the project team ensure smooth work progress and compliance with WFP requirements. 

The Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:

• Coordinate with the site supervisors and the participants;
• Conduct daily monitoring visits to the selected sites;
• Report daily on the work progress;
• Daily check on the participants, make sure that all participants are present on site;
• Take daily pictures of the sites before and after the work implementation;
• Daily scanning of the attendance booklets; and
• Assist in data collection and data entry.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES 

Specific deliverables include but are not limited to:

• Daily reports on work progress;
• Daily scanned attendance booklets;
• Daily pictures of the sites; and
• Data collection and data entry.

REQUIREMENTS

The Field Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

• Good academic and proven practical knowledge in the field of community mobilization, coordination of community activities, forestry, agriculture or any related field;
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working with rural communities;
• Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills;
• Excellent reporting skills;
• Willingness to travel daily to the project sites in Akkar and Danniyeh; and
• Good knowledge of the Akkar & Danniyeh region;

Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
