Bi-lingual Audio Editor

We require an editor to produce coherent five-minute recordings from 60-minute recordings.

Each one-hour recording is of an interview conducted by Sharq. Each interview has been transcribed and the interviewer has highlighted select strong quotes to assist the editor in selecting audio passages to stitch together to produce a five-minute recording suitable for publication online.

The work is mostly technical, but a background in journalism or filmmaking would be an advantage.

For each interview…

The editor will be provided with:

• The original recording (approx. 60 mins)
• Transcription of the recording
• A 500word summary of the story told

The audio edit does not need to mirror the story outlined in the summary, but it may provide useful.

The editor will provide:

• An audio recording of between 3 and 5 minutes long, ready for publication online
• A Transcript with the quotes included in the audio edit highlighted.

We require 54 interviews to be edited. Approximately two-thirds will be in Arabic (with an Arabic transcript) and one third will be in English (with an English transcript).

As such we require an editor who is fluent in both English and Arabic.

The work must be completed and delivered by end of August 2019.

Minimum requirements:

• Two years’ experience editing audio
• Fluency in English and Arabic
• Availability to work on the assignment in August
• Experience in journalism or film making an asset
