Protection Field Officer

PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

The Protection Field Officer 1 contributes to the implementation and monitoring of the Protection Department networking activities. Under the supervision of the Protection Delegate, the Field Officers builds and augments the Sub-Delegation’s network, carries out security assessment, assists with the implementation of the ICRC activities, as outlined in the planning for results objective.

YOUR PROFILE

ð               3 to 5 years field experience in Protection or social/political fields.

ð               Proven practical experience in networking with civil and religious authorities/institutions.

ð               Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

ð               Very good understanding of the dynamics in North Lebanon specifically, and generally in Lebanon.

ð               Strong inter-personal and persuasion skills.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

ð               University degree in social sciences or humanities 

ð               Proven technical knowledge in the humanitarian or relevant fields.

ð               Arabic native speaker, fluency in spoken and written English required. French a strong asset.

ð               Microsoft proficiency (Word, Excel ... etc)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Protection Delegate:

ð               Develop and maintain a strong network with civil authorities, civil institutions and religious groups and institutions.

ð               Develop and update a mapping of relevant entities or individuals.

ð               Develop and update networking plan of action for relevant interlocutors. 

ð               Update the Protection Department’s contact list on timely manner.

ð               Prepare and carry out field trips to affected communities in Tripoli, Akkar and Palestinian camps.

ð               Ensure Protection presence in relevant field trips of other ICRC departments.

ð               Produce analytical reports on humanitarian, social, political and security trends in clear and fluent English.

ð               Draft field trip reports and minutes of meetings in clear and fluent English.

ð               Represent the ICRC in external meetings.

ð               Report protection-related cases (during field trips, from visitors, press …etc)

ð               Carry out activities related to Restoring Family Links/Missing.
