JOB SUMMARY: This project aims at scaling-up IMC’s current gender-based violence (GBV) program across Lebanon and to address the unmet needs for GBV prevention and response. Through the implementation of GBV case management services, skilled case workers are exposed to high levels of stress and frustration. To avoid the risk of burn-out and provide opportunities to develop personalized self-care and psychological resilience IMC’s GBV department is hiring a psychologist consultant to support the staff. Through group sessions led by this consultant, the case managers will be able to share experiences, frustrations and negative coping skills with their peers allowing the consultant to provide healthier alternatives and best self-care practices and individual support to build stronger psychological resilience amongst individual staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizes monthly support groups for case workers implementing GBV case management and PSS support activities (who are in daily contact with beneficiaries) and their supervisors.
- Performs individual assessments in the case of individual staff members experiencing difficulty coping and/or presenting mental health-related symptoms.
- Advises the Program Coordinator and the Senior Program Officer, on individual and /or group cases where an identified problem is likely to have professional, effects on work environment and productivity (e.g. work-related problems inducing psychological symptoms on staff members, conflict resolution issues amongst staff, etc.).
- Monitors environmental factors that could lead to stress, with particular focus on stress related to critical incidents including emergency and crisis situations;
- Plans and facilitates stress management and resilience building training to all staff members.
- Liaises with National Mental Health Program professionals, International Medical Corps’ MHPSS team and, other psych-medical resources when needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of information shared outside the group and individual sessions.
- Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the Program Coordinator.
Specific Duties:
- 1 Group Session per Month
- Conduct individual self-care sessions, a session of 45 minutes
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
An Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) in clinical Psychology, or clinical Psychiatry with clinical license to provide psychological counseling or psychotherapy;
Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Professional Competencies:
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience is required.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, outlook).
- Excellent Analytical and reporting skills.
Behavioral competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal and Communication skills
- Client Orientation approach
- The counselor should have a compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental personality.
- Punctuality and respect for applicable rules and procedures;
- Ethical and transparent decision-making;
- Respect of confidentiality and data protection protocols;
- Flexibility and tolerance.
Languages:
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English
Experience required: 2 to 3 years
