BLN Teachers (Akkar) - FOR NATIONAL CANDIDATES ONLY

The Basic literacy and numeracy teacher will be working closely with the Education team to provide basic literacy and numeracy classes to out of school children in Akkar.

Working hours: 15 hours per week divided as follows:

-  5 days a week (Each day, will teach 1 class of 3 hours min and up to 3.5 hours per day)

Position reports to:

• Education  focal points

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide effective teaching in basic literacy and numeracy to out of school children in IRC/UNHCR agreed upon locations.

• Implement child –centered teaching methods, and diverse teaching techniques to engage children. 
• Enhance communication with parents through though proper communication channels with parents through Education Officers.
• Prepare teaching hand outs and activity sheets prior to sessions where appropriate.
• Assess children’s learning progress using assessment tools as provided by the IRC.

• All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

Job Requirements:    

• BA in Education, teaching diploma or certificate in related fields
• Experience teaching classes to children
• Experience with extremely vulnerable children is a plus
• Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
• Able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
