[Berytech] TOR: Startup Customer Validation Workshop Facilitator

Context & Background

 

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and hi-level skills in Lebanon.

 

The Agrytech Program is a is an agri-food innovation hub that is co-funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Berytech Foundation in Lebanon. Agrytech is a three-pillared program that includes an Accelerator Program, a Cluster, and a resource platform. Agrytech's Accelerator Program sources the most disruptive ideas in the Agri-Food sector and provides them with the technical, business, and individual growth needed to convert these ideas into sustainable and successful startups with a global impact.

 

The Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

  1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the agri-food sector.
  2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
  3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

Phase I is a two-month validation program. The program focuses on validating ideas and prototypes with stakeholders and industry experts before developing a minimum viable product.

 

 

Scope of work

 

The Accelerator Program seeks an external facilitator to deliver two 2-day Workshops that help entrepreneurs validate or negate their riskiest assumptions. 2-day workshops will be delivered to two cohorts consecutively, and participants will be requested to get out of the building to validate their riskiest assumptions. The workshop will aid entrepreneurs in discovering the process to methodically achieve market validation and learn how to collect the data necessary to validate or negate a startups’ hypotheses. The facilitator will then advise companies on the output of their exercises and share feedback with the management team and the startup founders.

 

Facilitators may deliver a proposal with amendments to the below; subject to the revision and approval of the Agrytech Team.

 

Day 1

  • Leap of Faith Assumptions
  • Pain Points – Minor Ache to Bleeding Neck Issues
  • Customer Jobs (Exercise)
  • Value Proposition Canvas – Pains and Gains (Exercise)
  • Intro Lean Startup
  • Identifying personas of Early Adopters  – (Exercise)
  • Lean Hypothesis  – (Exercise) developing the hypothesis for the first assumption
  • Interview theory (6 hardest questions/Mom test) – (Exercise)
  • Get out of the building/ Round of customer interviews

Day 2

  • Customer Interview Evaluation  (Discussing What Happened, What Worked, and What Didn’t)
  • Pivots – What Is A Pivot, How to Pivot, What Are Iterations, & How To Pivot Based On Customer Feedback.
  • Riskiest Assumptions – (Exercise)
  • Business Model Types
  • Experiment Design
  • MVP’s – Examples of a few MVPs
  • Experiment roadmap

Qualifications

 

  • Experience with delivering at least ten entrepreneurship workshops in multiple territories
  • Experience working with early-stage startups
