World Learning – QITABI -2: Editor (Consultancy) Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” QITABI-2 Program Background USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI -2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools. World Learning has an immediate consultancy for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI-2) in Lebanon. Scope and Responsibilities The consultant will work with Project Management and Technical team as necessary. He/She will be required to provide services in content editing and proof reading as per the below preference with a professional writing style: i) Standard Documents English and/or Arabic ii) Technical Documents English and/or Arabic The Consultant shall perform the Services as follows: • Efficiently copyediting, proofreading, filling in gaps in the information, restructuring and rewriting if required in English and/or Arabic • Ensure confidentiality of the edited materials. Any project document is treated in strict confidence and cannot be shared with any individual or organization in any form electronic or printed. In breach of confidence penalty could be levied • The consultant should expect several rounds of comments, review and discussions upon submission of assignment, for which patience and flexibility will be essential • The material to be edit, copy-edited and proof-read will include: o Standard Documents: Program related content, i.e. educational presentations and concept papers, cultural materials, flyers, brochures, etc. o Technical Documents: Government decisions, laws and regulations, elections, civil society, legal documents, website content, etc. o Or any other urgent editing task requested by World Learning • For each assignment, the Project Management shall agree in email with the consultant on a specific timeline that will be binding for both parties  Required Qualifications: • Master’s Degree preferably in Languages, public administration, public policy, political or social science, international studies or related field • Bachelor's degree can be substituted in lieu of Masters with 10 additional years of experience • Minimum 8 years of experience in professional translation, editing with technical knowledge in the field of Education is mandatory • Proven record of edited reports, publications or documents • Experience in report writing and editing for International Organizations is an asset • Ability to synthesize complex documents into key messages • Demonstrate strong written communication in English and/or Arabic, research and analytical and ability to rapidly integrate information from various sources • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team, to manage a range of tasks, to work pro-actively and with diligence, and to manage resources effectively while meeting deadlines • Sensitivity to the cultural context • Good IT skills and ability to work in track changes in Word and PDF files World Learning is an equal employment opportunity committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce.
