Life Coaching Consultant

The Alliance2015 Partnership, represented by lead agency ACTED, CESVI, Concern and Hivos, is running a program that aims to address root causes of conflict and instability in Lebanon, through the creation of sustainable income generating and livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations. Over three years, Alliance2015 partners will work directly with 1,800 individuals, 18 Social Development Centers (SDCs) and at least 27 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Lebanon.

The integrated program targets vulnerable communities with economic inclusion activities through three main pathways:

(A) Building the capacity of SDCs leads to an improved delivery of livelihood-related services;

(B) Improving the technical and soft skills of vulnerable individuals to ensure increased participation in the private sector job market; and

(C) Improving the capacity of the private sector leads to growth and job creation.

Activities include providing livelihood-related resources, assets and renovations to each targeted SDC; offering TVET and soft skills training, paid apprenticeship programs and job-matching services to vulnerable individuals; and providing businesses development services and value chain support to MSMEs.

This assignment is solely focused on Outcome Pathway B of the Project: Improving the technical and soft skills of vulnerable individuals to ensure increased economic opportunity and reduce negative coping mechanisms and tensions, with specific focus on activity 2.1: Provide relevant market-based TVET and soft skills trainings to vulnerable individuals.

In the framework of Outcome Pathway B, Activity 2.1, CESVI will be delivering training in Green Construction, Electric and Plumbing, Decorative Finishing and IT skills over the duration of the project.

 

 

As part of the training program, the life coach consultant will be assigned the life skills and career counseling component, which includes the following deliverables:

  • Implement an all-encompassing life skills and job counseling 5 hours crash course customized to the needs of vulnerable beneficiaries
  • Visit each of the training sites where beneficiaries are receiving their trainings to disseminate the soft skills and job counseling crash course
  • Provide an in-depth learning experience with constant engagement with the students through learning exercises and constant dialogue with the students
  • Deliver 1 soft skills and job counselling crash course per technical class, offered as 5 hours (in one day) at the end of each training, totaling 17 trainings: 9 trainings in the district of Saida and 8 in the district of Akkar. The Consultant shall indicate whether he/she intends to apply for either one or both target locations of Saida and Akkar. Please specify in the offer.
  • Deliver 1-on-1 job counseling sessions, targeting 50 trainees in each area. These trainees are participants from the 17 training courses that already took the crash Soft Skills and Job Counseling crash course.
  • Communicate feedback to the Livelihood Program Manager related to student interest, commitment, understanding and engagement
  • Contribute to feed CESVI’s database by providing information on individuals and possible areas of improvement for the soft skills and job counselling provision techniques. 

The deliverable deadline is February 2020, with a minimum of 25% progress per month.

 

Coordination

  • Provide CESVI’s staff with inputs about specific students, if necessary;
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders;
  • Coordinate with CESVI’s team to ensure efficiency.

Requirements

Knowledge/Experience

The Consultant must have a good knowledge of both NGO and job counseling sectors, and preferably a background in or familiarity with education and working with vulnerable communities.

 

In addition, the consultant should be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish positive relationships with people at all levels; to show sensitivity and integrity. The consultant must also have basic technological literacy, in terms of using excel, calendar, communicating by email, et

 

The Consultant must have a background in Life Coaching, Job Counselling, or other relevant educational background.

  • Flexibility and adaptability: the consultant must be willing to adapt to sudden changes within the curriculum, environment, needs of the students, etc…

Application Submission Guidelines

Interested applicants shall send their CVs and a cover letter describing their experience in providing job counseling and life skills sessions to vulnerable individuals specifying the topics provided. The Consultant will have to submit a financial offer detailing the average budget for  each session (1 class, 5 hour session) on Life Skills & Job Counseling (25 students), additional Costs (if applicable) and Costs Description and Total Budget. The Consultant shall indicate whether he/she intends to apply for either one or both target locations of Saida and Akkar.
