Child Protection Officer


Your main duties and responsibilities will be

  • Adhere to DRC CBPSS road map all over the implementation phase.
  • Weekly communication with SDC directors to ensure follow-up on the implementation of the CBPSS component.
  • Ensure that CBPSS is implemented on time by SDC volunteers.
  • Identify safe spaces within the SDC to provide community based PSS (CB PSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level.
  • Mapping of targeted communities to identify children and caregivers, volunteers, community leaders, leading NGOs, etc.
  • Design and organize dialogue tables with community leaders and stakeholders around selected social norms.
  • Support community leaders to form “Community of Change” networks to design and implement community campaigns on relevant social norms.
  • Liaise with municipalities and other partners/stakeholders working in the same communities to ensure the social behavioral component is well adhered
  • Facilitate meetings with municipalities, partners and stakeholders.
  • Closely coordinate and maintain positive relations with community leaders, influencers and key stakeholder in the area of implementation.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor in social work, social sciences, rural development or a related field, with significant course components in either community development, social work.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Child protection activities.
  • Preferably to have previous experience working with NGOs.
  • At least 1-year experience working with community based groups implementing protection activities.
  • Excellent knowledge of child protection and GBV and PSS basic principles.
  • Excellent communication, engagement and facilitation skills.
