Hackathon Facilitation Team 

 

Background 

 

ARK is currently delivering a project that seeks to build the Palestinian community’s resilience against violence and instability in six of Lebanon’s 12 Palestinian refugee camps. As part of the project, ARK is organizing a series of Hackathons in each of the camps that the project will be delivered in to identify capable groups and teams with the most innovative and effective projects that benefit the broader community. The hackathons’ themes and challenges will be based on social issues and problems that are deemed to be priorities in each of the six Palestinians camps.  

 

Purpose 

To deliver these activities, ARK requires a team of facilitators to implement the six hackathons during the month of November. Specifically, the facilitation team will be in charge of planning for and facilitating each of the six hackathons.  

 

Description of Services Required 

The Service Provider will deliver six one-day Hackathon events: 

Planning: The Service Provider must plan for each of the six hackathons, including 1) designing the event’s format and agenda; 2) preparing any training/facilitation material and content; and 3) supporting ARK in defining and outlining the challenges and problem statements for each event.  

Coordination: The Service Provider must coordinate with ARK’s project team to procure all resources needed for the proper implementation of each events, including identifying venues, acquiring resources, and inviting participants. 

Facilitating: The Service Provider must attend each of the Hackathons to moderate the events and facilitate  

The Service Provider must liaise throughout with ARK’s project team to ensure that the Hackathon topics support the project’s activities and are aligned with its desired impact. 

 

Deliverables 

Service Provider will deliver six hackathons on the following dates: 

15 November 2019 

16 November 2019 

22 November 2019 

23 November 2019 

29 November 2019 

30 November 2019 

Requirements and Obligations 

The Service Provider must possess the following: 

Strong experience planning, organizing, and facilitating social impact hackathons. 

A team of facilitators and mentors to guide teams/groups throughout the hackathon process.  

An understanding of the Palestinian refugee camp context and other social issues
