Driver

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

  1. Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness of the vehicle.  This includes daily check of tyres, brakes, engine oil, fan belt etc.

 

  1. Ensures that the vehicles are kept clean

 

  1. Keep records of spare parts of the vehicle and conduct monthly inventory of the spare parts.

 

  1. Ensure that the vehicles undertake regular service intervals.

 

  1. Make sure that the vehicle always has full tank prior departure for field trips.

 

  1. Find the most direct routing over the best available roads to the destination.

 

 

 

  1. Ensure that IOM vehicle(s) is used only for official/authorized business, as advised by the supervisor.

 

  1. Make sure that the daily log sheet is prepared.

 

  1. Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions, which involves IOM and its officials.

 

  1. Take proper measurements to reduce potential security threats to IOM officials or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes.

 

  1. Collect and delivers mail/documents as assigned.

 

  1. Ensure that the steps required by the local rules and regulations (pertaining to driving) are taken in case of involvement in accident.

 

  1. Perform any other duties that the supervisor may assign.

  1. Drives IOM vehicles in a safe manner consistent with local regulations

 

 

V. Education and Experience

 

  1. Secondary School diploma or equivalent (University degree would be considered as an advantage); valid Driver’s license
  2. 2 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair
  3. previous experience working with IOM or with UN specialized agencies an advantage
