Part-time Instructor of Humanities

Key areas of Responsibility

Humanities class integrates social studies, language arts and civic standards

  • Deliver one class of Humanities that is engaging, relevant and rigorous to a section of up to 25 students
  • Embed opportunities for student critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, as well as use of technology and digital media, into all lessons and unit plans
  • Giving feedback and communicating effectively with students who are from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom, including serving English Language learners and assist students in their individualized education plans
  • Integrate reading and writing into every class taught
  • Reviewing the curriculum and updating it as per needs of the class or the training
  • Coordinating with AUB faculty supervisor and other section instructor
  • Reporting as required
  • Participating in occasional training and evaluation sessions

 

Key Characteristics and Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Humanities/Philospohy/Anthropology in a high school (grade 12), university, or training institute (experience teaching students from underprivileged communities would be an added advantage)
  • Relevant academic degree
  • Skilled in engaging learners with diverse previous educational experience utilizing student-centered learning techniques
  • Passionate about working with young people and disadvantaged communities
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is essential
  • Good facilitation and time management skills
  • Strong skills in basic computer applications, previous experience using online resources and technology in the classroom is a plus
