Background

USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI 2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.

World Learning has an immediate vacancy for a Beirut-based “Finance Associate” for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI 2) in Lebanon.

Scope and Responsibilities

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support in the preparation of financial and accounting control systems
  • Ensure, in collaboration, with the finance manager, that all policies and procedures are in compliance with World Learning and USAID policies, procedures and requirements
  • Record all approved payments for local vendors, contractors etc. Enter data for various financial spreadsheets
  • Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Keep track of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Keep track of the project’s Inventory (updates, labeling, tagging).
  • Provide logistical support to the finance team when needed
  • Perform other duties as required by the Finance Manager and QITABI 2 Manageme

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance. Advanced Diploma in Accounting from College/Institutions.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Attention to detail to catch errors
  • Demonstrated capacity to support the financial and administration functions
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written as well as fluency in Arabic is required.  Knowledge of regulatory and financial compliance requirements associated with USAID funding
  • Strong knowledge working on MS Excel and accounting software
