Driver/Log Assistant - Aarsal/3630

The Drivers/Log Assistant is responsible for transportation of the people and equipment, ensuring that the assigned vehicle is under good condition, ensuring proper running and small maintenance of the buildings and equipment of the sub-base and provision of the support in fleet management.

 

Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Driving (40%)

 

Responsible for

 

Safe driving assigned vehicle and transporting passengers and materials as per movement plan

 

Ensuring the assigned vehicle is in good conditions and equipped as per ACF requirements

 

Tasks

 

Driving assigned vehicle according to the weekly planning respecting LSOP and country’s circulation rules

 

Responsible for weekly fuelling and routine daily maintenance check of the assigned vehicle (battery, radiator, tyres etc).

 

Reporting accidents and/or damage to assign vehicle to fleet manager immediately

 

Completing vehicle logbook (fuel / spare parts / maintenance) and summarizing monthly totals in vehicle logbook

 

Keeping assigned vehicle clean on a weekly basis (exterior and interior)

 

Assisting with loading and unloading of vehicles and assisting technicians in the field

 

Monitoring the maintenance and fuel consumption of assigned vehicle; ensuring assigned car has enough fuel to carry out daily movement

Objective 2: Support fleet management (15%)

 

Responsible for

 

Providing support for fleet officer in managing the fleet in the sub-base

 

Tasks

 

Helps to organize the daily and weekly movement planning according to project’s requests

 

Helps to ensure full compliance of Action Against Hungry security rules for drivers (seatbelt use, speed limits, daily reporting, etc) and availability of First Aid Kit and tool kit

 

Helps to monitor fuel consumption of vehicles in accordance with Kit Log (logbook, fuel usage etc) and ensure that cars have enough fuel to carry out daily movement

 

Helps to do the proper follow-up of administrative tasks for the sub-base fleet (insurance and permits etc.)

 

Helps to monitor maintenance of vehicles and to inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out

 

Helps to ensure daily vehicle inspection is done before departure

Objective 3: In charge of the equipment in the sub-base (15%)

 

Responsible for

 

Doing the 1st level of maintenance or repair of ICT equipment on the base with the support of ICT advisor

 

Reporting all problems related to the equipment to Logistician Facilities & Security and ICT advisor

 

Tasks

 

Equipment follow-up and all related documentation (certificate of loan, ID cards, mission equipment list, maintenance sheet, etc.) in link with Logistician Facilities & security and ICT advisor

 

Check and update on monthly basis the inventory list in each office

Objective 4: Premises small maintenance (15%)

 

Responsible for

 

Monitoring the buildings and equipment to ensure their good functioning and availability

 

Initiating any small repairs that can be done internally

 

Being responsible for all tools and spare parts he is in charge of

 

Rehabilitation of the building in order to prevent any damage

 

Informing the Logistician Facilities & Security of any repair requiring an external intervention

 

Keeping the keys of the office and warehouse and open/close accordingly

 

Tasks

 

To check on a weekly basis the lights, fuses, and electric equipment (including water heaters) at the office ensuring that all utilities are functional, available and enough for the needs (electricity, water, gas, phone, internet etc.)

 

Small maintenance on water system (water pump, plumbing in building etc.)

 

General maintenance of outside compounds

 

Painting of the small area where needed

 

To make sure the right material will be ordered on time to conduct the work (any needed repair, etc.)

 

To conduct preliminary security assessment on the feasibility of the work

 

To conduct electricity, masonry or carpentry work if needed

 

Controlling, following up on the consumables in the Sub-base Premises.

 

Maintaining petty cash (for emergency cases only)

Objective 5: Safety and Security follow up (10%)

 

Tasks

 

Transporting both people and goods in a safe and secure manner at all times

 

To respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, ensuring that the team of the sub-base complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.

 

To communicate to the security managers any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan

 

To ensure that there are fire extinguishers in the office and warehouse and to inform supply department to refill when necessary

 

To conduct regular check on First Aid Kit and to inform supply department to renew material and medicine when necessary

Objective 6: Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger (5%)

 

To support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.

 

To support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.

 

To promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work

 

Any other work duties assigned by Logistician for Facilities and Security or Base Logistic Manager within scope of logistic issues

 

To respect ACF Charter and internal rules

 

To respect ACF Security Policies


Do you meet the profile required criteria?

Training/ Education:

School diploma or equivalent

Technical specific knowledge:

Mechanical Knowledge about Vehicles

Previous experience:

1-year minimum experience working on projects at humanitarian aid organization and/or international donors and other sectors as well.

Humanitarian sector knowledge:

 

Is an asset

Action Against the Hunger knowledge:

Is an asset

Languages:

Arabic compulsory (written and verbal), English an asset.

IT and specific systems:

 

Basic knowledge

Mobility (national/ international)

Mobility between bases as required. No international travels required.
