Finance Officer for the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit

Main Role

The Finance Officer is responsible for managing financial activities related to the DRR Unit while ensuring compliance with the set financial policies and procedures. The Finance Officer will handle the DRR Unit’s budgeting, invoicing and reporting activities.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, plan and gather financial information from the DRR HQ and branches
  2. In coordination with the Program Manager, develop and manage the project budgets and yearly consolidated budget for operations and projects
  3. Conduct relevant financial analyses on income and expenditures in the DRR Unit and develop relevant reports
  4. Control and monitor the operations and project expenditures and cash flows; prepare the variance analysis report
  5. Monitor project budgets and provide relevant feedback to the Program Manager
  6. Provide monthly reports on the financial and operational components of projects
  7. Prepare spending plans for operations and projects and manage cash flows
  8. Review financial reports issued by Finance Sector and ensure accurate allocation to budgets
  9. Implement financial management policies and procedures as per Finance Sector and Donor regulations
  10. Follow-up on accounts payable and payments with the Accounting and Finance Sector
  11. Follow-up on pending procurement orders with the Procurement Sector, and on pending deliverables
  12. Review, verify and consolidate expenditure invoices from DRR branches to be sent to the EMS Finance
  13. Ensure timely and accurate data entry of invoices, payments received, and procurement orders
  14. Coordinate with and support individuals across the DRR Unit on financial activities and verify compliance with financial policies and procedures
