Project manager

Responsibilities and duties
LEADERSHIP:
 Work under the supervision of the Executive Director to oversee the effective management of the programs to ensure they are appropriately resourced and implemented.
 Assist Board Members and Management in setting strategy for departments in accordance to the overall Sawa strategy, and be responsible for the progress reporting, program development and monitoring and evaluation.
 Identify new projects and if needed, develop with project managers corresponding proposals, and look-out for calls for funding and donor applications

COORDINATION AND RELATIONSHIPS:
 Coordinate between different project managers and coordinators to ensure synergy
and flow in different programs
 Establish and maintain liaison with local partners and strategic relations with
stakeholders and donors
 Build and nurture effective working relationships with the local authorities and other
related agencies at province, district and community to facilitate the effective
implementation of the program based on the benefit of the most vulnerable categories
 Organize bi- weekly meetings for the team members to discuss progress, suggestions
and support on challenges, as well as one-on-one meetings with project coordinators
 Coordinate with Programs Support department (accounting, communications and
outreach, and documentation) to ensure harmony between the Programs unit and the
Programs support unit in accordance with Sawa’s organizational chart.
MANAGEMENT, MONITORING AND EVALUATION:
 Responsible for Program budgeting and financial monitoring, ensure timely and good
quality of all program expenditures and activities
 Prepare the budgets based on the detailed work plan and monitor project budgets
regularly (monthly, quarterly and annually)
 Conduct the regular monitoring of project activities to ensure objectives of the
projects are being met
 Be aware of and follow all the financial policies and procedures and liaise with the
Sawa Finance Department to ensure the integrity of financial documents, procedures
and reports
 Overall management of the programs through: planning meetings, developing
quarterly and annual work plans and corresponding budgets, setting outputs and
overviewing efficient implementation.
 Ensure implementation and monitoring of projects, through regular reporting from
team members, extensive field visits and project locations
 Develop corrective measures and strategies to respond to obstacles, changes and risks
 Work closely with Director by suggesting new programs, new staff hire, and report
arising opportunities and obstacles
 Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
 Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures of Sawa.

Qualifications:
 Bachelor Degree in Management, Business, Development Studies or closely related
fields and,
 A minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience.
 Previous work in or knowledge of the conflict/refugee context is an asset
 Fluent in Arabic and English.
 Strong understanding of best practices and strategies in social cohesion, youth
empowerment and support to local government through advocacy.
 Significant knowledge of International Humanitarian principals, Human Rights,
municipal law and Refugee Law;
 Strong program/technical and budget management skills including project
Management cycle and tools
 Experience in implementing projects through local partners and providing direct
technical support to local organizations;
 Ability to work in and contribute to dynamic team operating in a fragile and urban
environment

systems.
