Nurse - Zahle

ROLE PURPOSE:

The nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for children attending activities in the educational centres. S/he is expected to dedicate 95% of work time in the field. The nurse is expected to Promote a work environment that supports and facilitates ethical practice, in accordance with the Code of Ethics and the Lebanese Order of Nurses Code of Ethics. The nurse is expected to provide basic nursing care that meets the physical, psycho social, cultural, and general needs of the children and their families, while maintaining organization requirements, nursing policies, procedures and standards. S/he is expected to communicate with team members about changes in patient's clinical condition, also to support the mission and vision of Save the Children.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Capacity Building and Programme Coordinator

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Nursing care and technical duties

- Perform nursing activities assigned to children. This includes provision of nursing assessment and intervention.

- Supervise children within the facility as well as during outdoor playtime. Follow up of noted problems, observe and report symptoms.

- Provide nursing support and communications for well-being of the student; Pay attention to a child's emotional state and development, report concerns to the supervisor.

- Respond to children`s needs and answer their requests within the job requirements;

Know, promote, implement and follow up the standard infection prevention and control precautions . Perform decontamination of the healthcare environment and equipment.

- Apply safety measures related to patient care. This includes checking children with restraint and assisting them as needed.

- Maintain a log of nursing procedures performed at educational centres.

- Communicate student's daily health and educational experiences to the parents as appropriate.

- Assist in setting up classroom for student's needs with direction from the teacher/support facilitator.

- Communicate with physician and health agencies when necessary.

- Complete Accident Report when appropriate.

- Be aware of and be able to carry out emergency health care plans.

- Train staff and teachers on basic first aid.

- Carry and supervise administrative procedures and documents (fill in children’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.)

Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures

- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

- Perform other duties as agreed with the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- At least two years of experience in Nursing 

- Practical Nurse Diploma or BT in Nursing

- Nursing Colloquium, Nursing License from the Ministry of Public Health, and Registered in the Order of Nurses in Lebanon

- Knowledge of scope of the Registered Nurse

- Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Applications

- Strong command of Arabic and English
