Finance Technical Officer

  1. Role and responsibilities

 

The Finance Technical Officer is responsible for internal and external financial reporting and for assisting in budget preparation related to grants, funds, and budgets for all related programmes, donors, and departments by ensuring adherence to NRC’s policies and donor requirements.

 

Generic responsibilities

 

  1. Ensure adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor requirements
  2. Implement the regular and day to day activities of the finance function.
  3. Maintain overall budget control and monitor cash flow
  4. Prepare and submit reports and analysis as required
  5. Ensure proper quality control and monitoring of the finance function activities.
  6. Assess, promote and document ideas of technical improvement and further development options related to finance.
  7. Prepare budget forecasts and assist in Master budgets preparation
  8. Ensure proper filing of all financial documents
  9. Ensure that NRC’s related activities are implemented within NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and report any breaches/concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper action.

 

Specific responsibilities

 

  • Participate in Producing donor financial reports and any other financial management reports.
  • Participate in budget preparation for new proposals and grant applications on agresso and in donor formats
  • Prepare transactions to be posted in Head Office accounts
  • Prepare the auditors requirement and tax declarations.
  • Communicate financial related matters to all concerned parties
  • Coordinate with area Finance Officers, Project Managers, Area Manager regarding financial report and budget preperation
  • Ensure allocation of expenses in line with approved budgets and projected expenditures (master budget, consolidated allocation tables, BPO, etc.).
  • Maintain financial archives in accordance with donor requirements.

1. Professional competencies

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or a related major
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Familiar with grants proposal writing and reporting
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
