Agri-Food Specialist – Limited engagement

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and the company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.

The Agrytech Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the agri-food sector.
2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

The Agrytech Accelerator Program is currently on the lookout for an Agri-Food Specialist to deliver the following requirements.

The role holder will play an advisory and guidance role to startups in our Agrytech Accelerator Program. He will be heavily involved with a number of agriculture and food startups. His role includes connecting them to field experts, helping them establish valuable connections, increasing their market access opportunities, advising them when it comes to their product planning, and establishing partnerships to help them scale-up and accelerate their growth.

The Agri-Food Specialist would also be working closely with QOOT – Lebanon’s Agri-food Innovation Cluster - and other programs to create synergies and linkages in the field, in the same objective of giving startup founders opportunities to connect with industry players, access new markets, and tap into growth and expansion opportunities.

The Agri-Food Specialist will be responsible for leading the Agri-Food Track under the Berytech’s ACT Smart Innovation Hub Initiative, ensuring that the startups’  growth propsects are up to the expectations of the program.

Key Responsibilities

The Agri-food specialist will be responsible for supporting the startups from a technical and industry-related point of view, in close collaboration with the other activities of the program.

This would be inclusive of the following:

• Partnerships: Forging partnerships with other organizations for providing services to the startups or the organization; marketing the program, sponsorships, etc.
• Liaison with organizations, the government, and academic institutions locally and internationally
• Liaison with other projects related to the sector (consortium, innovation funds, etc.)
• Lead generation, pipeline management, and market access  for the startups
• Traction support: helping the startups in the preparation of proposals, connecting to market players, clients, users, etc.

• Bachelor of Agriculture, with an M.Sc. or MBA, is needed and at least 4 years of work experience
• Passionate about innovation and knowledgeable about new technologies and trends in the Agri-Food sector

Fluent in Arabic and English (verbal and written)
