Psychosocial Support Assistant

The Psychosocial Support Assistant is responsible for conducting psychosocial activities for children affected by the Beirut Explosion while ensuring their well-being and reporting any concerns

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective methodologies to affected children  that support them in working through their trauma
  • Plan, prepare and deliver sessions to children as per NRC PSS curriculum
  • Attend and actively participate in all training held by NRC Lebanon
  • Implement and follow NRC PSS curriculum and enrich content where appropriate
  • Maintain a child-friendly and safe environment in the centres
  • Assess children's well-being with pre and post-assessments during the cycle
  • Enhance parental involvement through positive communication channels with parents
  • Supervise children upon arrival and departure and between sessions
  • Carry out related mainstreaming of protection in program daily implementation as per the set NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines, and ensure reporting any breaches/concerns to the line manager for proper action
  • Ensure all children information is kept confidential
  • Participate in weekly team meetings in order to contribute to project planning and effective implementation
  • Participate in the preparation of internal and external reports, as required
  • Assess and report serious cases which require specific actions or responses
  • Organize and run recreational activities for children taking their needs into account
  • Undertake all other related duties as requested by the line manager
  • Respect NRC’s code of conduct, child safeguarding policy, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse policy, ensuring implementation of the policies and prompt notification on regarding potential breaches

Qualifications and Relevant Skills:

  • University degree or certification in psychology or counselling
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a relevant field working experience with children
  • Experience in theatre, art or music is a plus
  • Ability to work systematically in an organized manner
  • Ability to listen actively and communicate effectively
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
  • Fluent in Arabic and English both spoken and written; French is a plus
