World Learning – QITABI -2: Instructional Designer Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” QITABI-2 Program Background USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI 2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools. World Learning has an immediate vacancy for an “Instructional Designer” for its Beirut based USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI 2) project in Lebanon. Scope and Responsibilities The project is aiming to produce digital e-content in line with the Lebanese curriculum for the English, French, Arabic and Math subjects - Grades 1 to 6 – with psychosocial support activities integrated and stand alone. The instructional Designer will lead on the transformation of the pedagogical content into e-resources. He/She will work closely with the QITABI 2 Subject Matter specialists (SMEs) to create the storyboards that will be used to convert the content produced by the SMEs into e-resources. She/ He shall use all instructional design principles, models and learning theories, to fulfil learning objectives and respond to the position’s need. Principal areas of responsibility • Performs the design of the e-content resources, development, execution, and testing of instructional materials • Develops instructional material, coordinates with SMEs to produce educational content, and incorporates current technology for developing the e-content • Interacts with SMEs in planning and scoping requirements for e-content development • Leads on storyboarding, authoring, and development of e-learning content and blended learning solutions • Reviews and tests e-content from other team members, provides feedback and suggestions for improvement • Evaluates and confirms learning objectives to improve the design of resources, through ongoing needs assessments • Provides advice on designing and creating online e-content based on best practices in pedagogy and andragogy • Works closely with SMEs, graphic designers and videographers, and authoring programmers to convert the content into student friendly interactive e-material • Designs and develops supporting aides for print, classroom resources and materials • Reports to management on progress and task completion Required Qualifications • Degree in educational technology or related field, preferred MS • 5+ years of experience using course authoring tools and/or in the technology industry • Extensive experience in developing/transforming original and innovative instructor-led e-content materials and self-paced learning content • Advanced experience working with e-learning and blended learning programs, web-based e-content development, and asynchronous learning content • Familiarity with learning theory and instructional design techniques • Excellent written and oral English or French and Arabic skills for the purpose of documentation development, curriculum development, editing and communication • Knowledge of various online assessment techniques and evaluation methods • Familiarity with Moodle, Teams, Google Classrooms is recommended • Can produce online materials as SCORM and/or HTML 5 files with tracking or XAPI • Familiarity with copyright laws and Creative Commons • Understanding of varied learning styles with recommended experience • Highly self-motivated and self-managed; ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal coaching or supervision • Ability to work among a team • Ability to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines, while producing quality deliverables World Learning is an equal employment opportunity committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce.
