Civil Engineer or Architect

The Civil Engineer or Architect shall be responsible for monitoring the rehabilitation work that will take place in residences, institutions and / or primary healthcare centers (PHCs) affected by Achrafieh explosion.  

General Responsibilities

  • Assess the status of residences, institutions and / or (PHCs) (including infrastructure and building), and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Keep the Construction Manager informed of all aspects of work.
  • Conduct post assessment visits to the facilities to be rehabilitated in order to deliver the work to construction companies and contractors.
  • Ask for and receive work schedules from construction companies and contractors, and report any change in the schedules.
  • Monitor the rehabilitation work implemented by construction companies and contractors.
  • Resolve inconsistencies between the engineer’s recommendations and the contractors’ work, and document and report the inconsistency and the way of dealing with it to the Construction Manager.
  • Notify the Construction Manager of any obstacles that may develop or that are foreseen.
  • Receive the final work from construction companies and contractors.
  • Collect the required information and fill out end-use checking forms during field visits to the facilities to be rehabilitated.
  • Collate, analyze and report on data collected.

 

 Qualifications

  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office/ AutoCAD and Visual Basics.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders and go up or down the stairs to inspect and collect data on the physical conditions of the facilities, including roofs and basements.
  • Good technical writing and reporting skills.
  •

  • Ability to work in a cross cultural environment and under pressure in order to meet deadlines.

  • Good organizational and time management skills

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of work experience is required.
  • Preferable that the candidate is graduated since four years
  • Relevant experience in rehabilitation or similar projects is an asset.

 

Working Conditions

  • Field visits to facilities to be rehabilitated, with regular visits to IOCC office.
  • Preferable that candidate has a car and resides in the area of concern.
