Reporting to Shelter Assistant

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Implementation

• Validate technical proposals and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and technical drawings developed by partners

• Support all technical aspects of quality control and make sure that all procedures abide by CIL safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct

• Conduct regular field visits with partners

• Provide daily/weekly reports, as requested by the line manager 

• Work with staff in providing case referrals, advocacy, skills training, and other supportive services to partners

• Attend and participate in staff meetings

• Working in a team environment

• Report to supervisor when activities are not complying with program guidelines

• Respond to crisis and emergency situations when needed

• Perform basic filing and organizing tasks when needed 

• Interns may be assigned special responsibilities and/or duties in accordance with their qualifications and abilities

Monitoring:

• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data from selected beneficiaries, using pre-made questionnaires and check lists

• Conduct site visits to supervise and/or monitor progress and quality, when needed

• Contribute to data entry, when needed

Qualifications / special skills or knowledge

a. Skills & knowledge:

• working with communities

• working for the humanitarian/development sector

• Knowledge of construction, housing, water, sanitation national standards and common practices in Lebanon.

• Experience in working site supervision or monitoring in small to medium-scale construction works (household level, building level and community infrastructure level).

• Proven technical knowledge of construction procedures, from technical assessments to BoQ development, project design to execution, monitoring of works, evaluation and hand-over.

Knowledge in

• Areas of intervention (Beirut)

• Context sensitivity, and willingness to work with people from different backgrounds

• CIL Safeguarding and child protection policies and code of conduct

 

b. Experience:

At least   0-1  years of relevant experience, especially at NGOs, academic organizations, standard-setting bodies, public agencies focused on Shelter Rehabilitation during emergencies

c. Academic background: 

Bachelor’s degree in one or several of the following areas: Architecture, Civil engineering or other related fields / Social Sciences is a plus.

  1. Languages: English and/ or Arabic are the working language of CARE International.
  1. of other languages is an asset.

5. Other contract elements

CARE offers internship and volunteer opportunities for up to 4 months contract for an allowance at USD $25 for meals and transportation and for a limit of 16 days a month.
