Art Therapist

Main Responsibilities:

- Meeting beneficiaries and arranging activities and sessions using various types of visual art, including drawing, sculpting, painting, ceramics, and clay modelling.

- Planning and facilitating group art therapy sessions with children

- Maintaining the material and equipment

- Listening to beneficiaries and advising them on suitable activities

- Encouraging members of the group to relate to each other through art

- Encouraging beneficiaries to explore their art and think about what it means to them

- Referring beneficiaries to other therapists and health professionals, when needed

- Adapting art therapy sessions based on the needs, & preferred forms of artistic expression of beneficiaries

- Teaching beneficiaries coping skills & strategies to enable them to deal with challenging & traumatic experiences

- Presenting reports of the sessions and beneficiaries’ progress

- Performing other duties as requested by the technical supervisor

Skills & Qualifications:

- University Degree in a related field (Art therapy or Psychotherapy)

- 2 years’ experience in related field

- Excellent artistic abilities, creativity, imagination and enthusiasm

- Ability to provide a trusting, open, kind-hearted atmosphere that encourages learning and participation

- A non-judgemental approach and ability to work with all people

- A strong knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of Art therapy

- Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills

- Accomplishes tasks accurately, and with a keen eye for detail both with quantitative and qualitative data

-  Efficient time management and the ability to think outside the box to meet expectations

- Ability to work both under direction and autonomously with a “can-do” attitude

- Fully proficient in Arabic and English

- Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Ability to start ASAP
