Human Rights Network-Strategic Plan Development

Dar AL Amal and SIDC are seeking an expert for the development of a medium-term strategic plan for the Human Rights Network (HRN) to further institutionalize the HRN’s work and ensure the sustainability and scaling up of the network.

The Human Rights Network consists of non-governmental organizations, universities, local civil society organizations, and individuals working on defending human rights. It aims to defend and protect marginalized groups and reduce discrimination, violations, and bad practices against these groups in the health, social, security, and economic facilities/ spheres/institutions. The network was established in 2017, composed of the Arab Institute for Women at the Lebanese American University, Soins Infirmiers et Developpement Communautaire (SIDC), Skoun, Lebanese Addiction Center, and Dar Al Amal Organizations under the USAID-funded Building Alliances for Local Advancement, Development and Investment - Capacity Building program (BALADI CAP).

Mission

The Human Rights Network advocates to reduce discrimination and violations of practices against marginalized groups and aims to protect them in the health, social, security and economic facilities/ sectors/institutions in the belief of human rights and the achievement of equality and social justice. 

Methodology:

DAA and SIDC will hire an expert to facilitate discussions among the network members and consequently develop a 5-year strategy and an action plan based on the priority areas identified in the charter, while considering the capacities and expertise of the member organizations.

Deliverables:

-  A well written, comprehensive Medium term strategic plan for the Human Rights Network with vision, mission, values, theory of change and forecasted activities, including sustainability and scaling up in Arabic with accompanying action plan. 

-  An executive summary in English to highlight key elements of the strategic plan

- Any other relevant document that is requested during the process.

Qualifications and experience:
- At least a master’s degree in a relevant field in the area of strategic planning, public policy, gender studies, development studies, business administration;
- At least five years of professional experience in strategic planning, organisational assessment and development planning, experience in shaping change management, with evidence of having undertaken similar assignments;
- Previous experience in the area of Non-Governmental sector;
- Experience in gender and human rights issues;
- Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of gender, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalised status.
- Must be result-oriented, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy and integrity;
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and reporting skills
- High level written and oral communications skills in Arabic and English;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- The consultant might apply as an individual or as a consortium.
