Position: Mental health expert for material development

Required deliverables: Develop and review training modules on different topics related to mental health and wellbeing, consolidate and harmonize the training materials already developed.

Project: Improving Mental Health and Well Being of people living in Lebanon

Expected timeframe of the employment: 6 months

Salary: N/A (consultancy) – average 300 USD/ day

Job location: Beirut (remotely, with meetings as needed)

About the project and the position

A consortium of six organizations, including Médecins du Monde (MdM), Skoun, Abaad, Amel, Embrace and Humanity and Inclusion (HI), along with National Mental Health Program (NMHP), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for individuals living in Lebanon to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing. The consortium is looking to recruit a mental health expert to develop and review training modules on different topics such as PFA, ECM, mhGAP, PM+, parenting skills, self-care etc.

 

Tasks and duties

Material development and review

  • Conduct literature review on the topics of material,
  • Map local and international relevant frameworks for the needed material development,
  • Develop a clear material outline,
  • Develop and draft material for different target groups and different objectives,
  • Select and review criteria for local and international relevant experts peer review of the material,
  • Conduct consultation meetings when needed,
  • Technically review the comments shared by reviewers on the material developed,
  • Oversee the work to be done by the designer and the translation when needed,
  • In case of a training, develop the training presentation for the workshops along with the related forms (pre posttests, polls, etc.),
  • In case the material already existed, review the material and input on the needed amendments to be done.

Consolidate and harmonize the existing training material:

  • Read the material
  • Map duplications, redundancies and contradictions
  • Suggest a harmonizing action plan
  • Implement changes after review by relevant technical persons.

  • Compilation reports from the consultation meeting
  • Initial outline of training materials
  • Minutes of meetings
  • Material developed or material reviewed

 

Education, experience and relevant skills

  • Degree in psychiatry or Master in psychology or proved work experience in mental health and/or substance use field,
  • Proven experience in material development and training delivery
  • Experience or a degree in Education in a plus
  • Fluent in Arabic and English,
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in the field of mental health and substance use,
  • Ability to work under pressure,
  • Analytical and conceptualization skills,
  • Good communication skills,
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills, and
  • Reliability and accountability.
