Danmission is looking for two (2) new Programme Managers, responsible for grant management, coordination and implementation of programmes and projects funded by institutional donors such as the European Union and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Programme Manager should be an expert in grant management and project cycle management, incl. expertise in monitoring, evaluation and learning. He/She is an experienced coordinator, who will work closely together with local partners and colleagues on implementing programmes focusing on peace, dialogue and development.
Furthermore, the Programme Manager will contribute to proposal writing and implementation of Danmission’s strategic priorities in MENA. The Programme Manager will refer to the MENA Regional Director and work closely together with colleagues in Beirut and in Danmission HQ in Denmark.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Designing, planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting of programmes and projects
- Ensure the technical quality of the programme/project implementation in accordance with conditions and requirements
- Budget planning, review and follow-up as well as financial monitoring and reporting in collaboration with Finance Manager / Controller
- Assisting with procurement and help ensure that procurement is in line with the organization’s internal policy
- Close cooperation and communication with Danmission’s local partner organizations and stakeholders
- Assisting in the designing and implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) components in cooperation with Danmission’s MEL Unit
- Coordinating data collection according to logframes and project objectives, including supporting and supervising local partners in doing so
- Collecting timely reports from local partners and finalize interim and final narrative/financial reports to donors in accordance with relevant templates, requirements and deadlines
- Assisting in capacity building and training of local partners to ensure proper management and compliance with programme/project requirements
- Continuously seeking knowledge and expertise on topics related to peace, dialogue, development and faith-based social action
- Contributing to the developing and updating of the Danmission MENA strategy
- Contributing to designing and drafting project/grant proposals as relevant
- Representing Danmission as part of the implementation of activities to partners, donors and stakeholders; attending relevant conferences, networks and coordination- and donor meetings
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES:
- Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Peacebuilding, Project Management or other field relevant for the position
- Minimum 5-10 years of previous experience in development work, including grant coordination and implementation of MEL systems
- Extensive knowledge and experience of project cycle management and budget holding; proposal and report writing.
- Extensive experience of working with external funding. Evidence of understanding the challenges of donor and contract management and the implications for project implementation and management
- Passionate about working with topics such as peacebuilding, intercultural- or interfaith dialogue, social cohesion, citizenship or development.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
PERSONAL COMPETENCES:
- Lebanese national or authorized to work in Lebanon
- Structured coordinator with an eye for details and a love for working systematically
- Appreciate to work in a small office with dedicated colleagues where teamwork is in focus.
- Ability to understand the cultural, religious and political environment and to work well with partners and stakeholders in the implementing countries in the MENA region
- Ready and able to travel in the MENA region
