Project Manager (Data & Tech Lead) - MENA

Danmission is looking for a motivated Project Manager, who is experienced in project cycle management as well as an expert in the fields of big data, (peace)tech and innovation.  
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing an innovative and data-driven element of the 3-year programme “Towards Social Cohesion in a Fragile Lebanon” (TSL) funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He/She will assist the Danmission Programme Manager at the Regional Office on daily project cycle management tasks. Furthermore, the Project Manager will be Danmission’s focal point for Tech and Innovation in MENA and manage additional projects related to Peace and Technology.

The Project Manager should be an excellent storyteller, owner, and representative for our developed products and programmes and should be comfortable engaging with both external partners as well as the internal team in Beirut and the Danmission HQ in Denmark

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

• Designing, planning and implementing specific innovative and data-driven elements in projects and programmes as well as an innovative, data collection tool for civil society.
•  Project cycle management, incl. planning, budgeting, communication, monitoring, reporting 
• Work as a project focal point to Danmission’s external technical and strategy consultants
• Work with partner teams to manage, translate, synthesise on-the-ground data collection from local partners
• Leading the collection of baseline local peace and co-existence data
• Analysis of big data and developing reports for internal and external use 
• Capacity building and mentorship of civil society and local partners in data collection and analysis as well as the use of innovation and technology in peacebuilding 
• Manage and expand Danmission’s Peace Innovation Roster of activists and civil society organizations in MENA 
• Foster, prototype and test innovative ideas and tech solutions across Danmission’s work in MENA in cooperation with the Advisor on Innovation in HQ 
• Establishing partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders working with (peace)tech and innovation in the development sector in MENA. Identify innovative solutions, methods, and opportunities for Danmission.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:

• 3-5 years of relevant experience (e.g. project/grant management, product management, strategic innovation, system engineering, computer science, big-data analytics)
• Experience working with big data, data collection methods, statistics, data validation, data analysis and data visualization 
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific data in simple terms and obtain buy-in from partners, stakeholders, and colleagues 
• Ability to think creatively and out of the box, bridging the gap between data, technology, innovation, peace building, and social cohesion.
• A comfort systematically operating in the unknown, while remaining organised. This is an innovation role, where there are no best practices and existing pathways. You should be proactive, creative, and curious in how to collect data and drive peace.
• Passion about working with Innovation and/or PeaceTech 
• Experience with and/or knowledge about concepts of Social Cohesion, Peaceful Co-existence, and intercultural/interreligious dialogue 
• Ability to understand the cultural, religious and political environment and to work well with partners and stakeholders in the implementing countries in the MENA region 
• Appreciate to work in a small office with dedicated colleagues where teamwork is in focus 
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic 
• Lebanese national or authorized to work in Lebanon 
• Willingness to travel domestically and in the MENA region.
