As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to strain the healthcare system and the provision of health services worldwide, in the MENA region particularly, it has shed light on the structural challenges of the healthcare systems.
The latter are often fragmented with a multiplicity of institutions, schemes, services, and financing sources, with an increased tendency to privatisation, leading to unequal access to healthcare benefits and coverage and contributing to perpetuating inequalities and exclusion. This webinar aims to discuss access to healthcare in the region from a human-right based perspective. It will reflect on various contexts and systemic challenges countries in the region are facing in the health sector, and explore how to push forward the enactment of universal and inclusive healthcare systems for all throughout the life cycle.
