Project Manager

Major Responsibilities:

Planning Projects

  • Defines the scope of projects in collaboration with senior management.
  • Creates a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the projects.
  • Determines the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the projects.
  • Develops a schedule for projects’ completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Reviews projects’ schedules with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the projects’ activities; and revises the schedules as required.
  • Determines the objectives and measures upon which the projects will be evaluated at their completion.

 

Implementing Projects

  • Executes projects according to projects’ plans.
  • Records and documents projects’ activities.
  • Sets up files to ensure that all projects’ information are appropriately documented and secured.
  • Monitors the progress of projects and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure their successful completion.
  • Establishes a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the projects.
  • Reviews the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards

 

Controlling Projects

  • Writes reports on projects for management and for funders.
  • Communicates with funders as outlined in funding agreements.
  • Monitors cash flow projections and reports actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly).
  • Evaluates projects.
  • Ensures that projects’ deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
  • Evaluates the outcomes of projects as established during the planning phase.

Job Requirements:

Academic Qualification

  • University Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any other related field.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in managing small-scale and medium-scale projects.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory/managerial post is required.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Experience in Non-Governmental Organizations is preferable.

Skills

  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic. (French is a plus)
  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Capacity to work in teams and flexibility to take on new tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
