Part time Humanities Instructor - Padileia Project

Keys areas of responsibility:

Humanities class integrates social studies, language arts and civic standards

Deliver one class of Humanities that is engaging, relevant and rigorous to a section of up to 30 students

Embed opportunities for student critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, as well as use of technology and digital media, into all lessons and unit plans

Giving feedback and communicating effectively with students who are from disadvantaged backgrounds

Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom, including serving English Language learners and assist students in their individualized education plans

Integrate reading and writing into every class taught

Reviewing the curriculum and updating it as per needs of the class or the training

Coordinating with AUB faculty supervisor and other colleagues

Reporting as required

Participating in occasional training and evaluation sessions

Key Characteristics and Qualifications

Experience teaching Humanities/Philospohy/Anthropology in a high school (grade 12), university, or training institute

Bachelor degree in social sciences, philosophy, anthropology or related fields

Skilled in engaging learners with diverse previous educational experience utilizing student-centered learning techniques

Passionate about working with young people and disadvantaged communities

Fluency in English is essential

Good facilitation and time management skills

Experience in online teaching/learning and using online resources and technology in the classroom

Teaching Hours: One class per week (4 hours teaching)
