Solidarités International is an International NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Specialized for nearly 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, S.I. takes charge of emergency and reconstruction programs.
With respect for cultures and close to the people, Solidarités International implements its programs by combining its skills with those of its employees and local managers.
Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Caribbean where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods.
ABOUT THE JOB
SI is currently improving its information management capacities. In Lebanon, data structures and channels, as well as roles and responsibilities have been redefined in an innovative way in the past 4 years. Internal and external data flows are being optimized at each project cycle step and an information system was developed locally in order to follow the existing workflow and manage data from all activities, easing up the collaboration between different departments.
Following an innovation development process, the SOLIS project opens new ways of data management in the digital emergent market of Humanitarian organizations.
It is one of the first time that humanitarian sector is being investing in structuring and optimizing its data flows with the scope of injecting private sectors best practices. Its objective is to position the system as leading product allowing increased operational programs design capacity and cost efficiency.
With a unique DataBase system running on local servers and synchronized live all over the mission, it is the first a SI mission will develop such data use capacities.
The project is the internally developed SI Lebanon’s Information Management System. Currently it is developed within the Laravel/Eloquent PHP framework. It also relies on PostrGre SQL DBMS on local servers with live synchronizations. System is planned to be linked through API to ODK Central, Link, SAGA and BI software such as any PowerBI and any Open Source alternative.
General objective:
Under the supervision of the IM Data Intelligence Manager, keeping in mind high level of data protection and quality concerns, the IM Data Intelligence Responsible supports the complete development cycle of the Business Intelligence SOLIS strategy and deployment.
For both SOLIS project and the mission, (s)he supports dashboard and reporting needs with necessary data operations. (S)He works on improving mission’s capacity of analytics and reports using high load of internal and external data. (S)He organizes and integrates mass data volume within SOLIS DB and configure automated extractions.
The main challenges:
- Understanding programs activities and being an efficient support on the production of useful dashboards
- Understand expressed needs from end users and provide relevant technical response
- Being able to understand our central Solis system data model and proceed to views and automated extract for automated dashboard production and updates.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
- Support the production of the mission dashboards
- Explore and master SOLIS data model
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with IM Data Intelligence Manager, (s)he contributes to SOLIS Business Intelligence strategy
- Operates BI Strategy implementation
- Configures automated data extracts from DB sources to BI tools
- Proceeds to external and internal high volume of data integration within SOLIS DB
- Manages and operates mission’s data quality cycle strategy
- Manages the SOLIS users manual’s development
Activities
- Operates improvements on the existing mission’s dashboard set in Excel
- Develops and implements validated new cross analytics and reporting dashboards in PowerBI with automatic dataflow process from the data sources
- Configures a set of database views in SQL from SOLIS DB for automatic extraction and feed of the external BI tools
- Organizes integration within SOLIS database of the identified additional external data sources.
- Proceeds to data cleaning, data typology, anonymization and files organizations
- Operates mission historical data entry within SOLIS DB
- Manages and operates the data quality checks and corrections on all mission’s data. Suggests improvements in data flow and quality checks processes.
- Support on follow-ups on reporting capacities of SOLIS project itself
- Design, writes and document the SOLIS System Wiki users manual

YOUR PROFILE
Specific skills and experience:
- Education:
- Academic degree in Statistics, Business, Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience:
- Any experience in academic or research environment is a plus.
- Any experience in Humanitarian sector is a plus.
- Knowledge of :
- Expert level in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of SQL and any DataBase Management System is a very strong plus
- Very comfortable with IT, Mobile, Computers, web and software tools.
- Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions
- Strong training/capacity-building skills
- Computer literacy with very good command of MS Office
Soft skills:
- Very Rigorous and well organized
- Able to treat high volume of data
- Writing and documentation skills
- Excellent diplomacy skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible (will have to take on responsibilities that might not be directly on his/her JD)
- Mobility to visit different locations (day trip) in Lebanon on a regular basis (weekly).
- Adaptability to changing work environment and possible volatile security situation
- Stress management skills: ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, with peaks of heavy workloads;
Language:
- Fluent in English writing, reading, and speaking
- French and Arabic are assets.

A salaried post: 1,650 USD – Basic salary
Vacation: 1.5 Paid Leaves/month
