Part-Time TL Gender Expert - Beirut

Role Summary

The TL Gender Expert’s main role is to oversee the range of gender activities that are administered under the Tomorrow’s Leaders (TL) program. The successful candidate will work closely with the appointed MEPI Gender Specialist in Washington DC to ensure that the programs’ gender objectives and its timeline are met and that the various projects are completed in compliance with MEPI’s guidelines.

This position will consolidate all the work that across the TL sub-awards (TLU, TLG, TLS, and TLP).

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops/Reviews the TL related gender content within the academic curricula in coordination with the relevant faculty and Schools
  • Coordinates with the TLU Academic Director to support gender advocacy and mainstreaming throughout the undergraduate program offerings
  • Coordinates with the TLG Academic Director and TLG students to encourage them to enroll in at least one gender graduate elective course throughout the program
  • Coordinates with the TLS Academic Director to support meeting the TLS gender objectives with regard to gender knowledge and change of attitudes in this area
  • Proposes adaptive tools to integrate gender knowledge into the TLP pilot
  • Works closely with the TL Executive Director and the Arab Institute for Women to put forth a yearly plan of gender-based activities to offer to the TL students
  • Mentors TL students in the area of gender knowledge when needed
  • Ensures that all faculty teaching in the TL programs are trained on gender
  • Disseminates the scholarly contribution of students and faculty participating in TL projects
  • Enhances recruitment of qualified students

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Master degree in Gender Studies or related field + 5 years of work experience in gender studies, gender research, and/or programming with national/international NGOs and public sector institutions, or in academic institutions OR PhD in Gender Studies or related field + 3 years of work experience in gender studies, gender research, and/or programming with national/international NGOs and public sector institutions, or in academic institutions
  • Experience in teaching Gender Studies is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a complex and rapidly changing environment; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, particularly with regard to presentations and preparation of publications, and report writing
  • Excellent computer skills, including competence in word processing and internet/e-mail
  • Proven experience with relationship building/stakeholder relationship management/team building skills
  • Possesses high standard of professionalism and ethics; analytical thinking skills; ability to manage multiple tasks easily
  • Experience with MEPI or USAID and other donors desirable
