M&E Assistant - Arsal - On Behalf of Josour Al Nour

Background/Jousour Al Nour Summary:  

Jousour al Nour (JN) is a Lebanese local NGO operating in Arsal since 2010, over the past ten years JN implemented a variety of programs supporting both local and refugee communities in Arsal.

JN in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is implementing a livelihood project in Arsal, providing vocational trainings to street connected and working children (SAWC) aged between 14 and 17 years old. The aim of this project is to mitigate risks on SAWC and support them in restoring a better future.

 

Job Overview/Summary:

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will be directly responsible to support in the implementation of the project’s M&E plan, to ensure the collection of data is accurate and complete, in addition to monitor the data collected from the vocational trainings and organize the data to facilitate its use and to generate reports. The M&E Assistant should take into account how to deal with children while following their highest safety standards and supervising all monitoring and evaluation processes.

The M&E Assistant should ensure high quality of programming and immediate reporting on challenges or lack of adherence to M&E minimum standards in order to take immediate corrective actions.

The ideal candidate will be a great teammate, organized, and a hard worker who believes in the importance of quality data and information being means to improved programming and ensure that Jousour Al Nour interventions remain meaningful to children’s needs.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data entry: transferring attendance sheets into digital data through excel.
  • Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation tools (checklists, questionnaires, databases, interview forms, surveys, etc.)
  • Conduct field visits, spot checks, and monitoring visits in different intervention sites to ensure accuracy and completeness of activities and tools.
  • Save and store all files and documents within the required standards and archive all information in a serial and easy way, in hard and soft copies.
  • Prepare periodic reports when needed.
  • Ensure data collected is: accurate, reliable, and complete.
  • Support the team in entering data on a daily basis.
  • Promote a learning environment and good practices with children.

  • Ensure children’s feedback and participation is part of program development and guarantee that program design is directly influenced by children’s feedback, their needs, and priorities.
  • Plan with field staff data collection needs and ensure proper data flow.

 

Reporting

  • Consolidate data regularly for donor reports.
  • Collaborate with the project officer and other team members in writing reports.
  • Support the mainstreaming of gender and conflict sensitivity in all activities throughout the project period.
  • Review data and information provided according to logical frameworks based on indicators and approved measurement mechanisms.
  • Produce reports on observations, challenges, and recommendation perceived on the field.
  • Summarize and organize feedback from children.
  • Monitor progress against targets and action plans.

  • Internal: Trainers, Field Assistants, and other field staff 
  • External: Donor, partner (IRC), sector (Unicef, etc.)

 

Job Requirements:

Education: University degree in social work, human rights, protection, law or other relevant field

 

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of one year working experience in the humanitarian/development field
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation or data collection
  • Experience in child protection
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting
  • Staunch advocate and believer of child protection and child rights. Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong computer literacy including Excel and online data bases
  • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Experience in drafting reports is a plus

 

Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic is required (intermediate English level)
