- Mastery of the psychiatric assessment and usage of ICD 10/ ICD 11 terminology.
- Mastery of Pharmacology and willingness to base prescriptions on the recommended MOPH national guide and list of psychotropic and neurological medications.
- Ability to conduct thorough clinical assessments and clear case formulation

- Ability to intervene and de-escalate mental health emergencies and suicidal crises.
- RI’s Clinical Psychiatrist will receive referrals from RI’s Clinical Psychologists and other NGOs.
- He/she will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and treating patients with mental health disorders. In addition, he/she will prescribe psychiatric medication, order tests and/or refer patients according to their needs.
- He/she will follow up with beneficiaries to ensure that they are responding positively to treatment and make amendments to the treatment plan when necessary.
- He/she will conduct his/her consultations in RI’s supported PHC and will provide community-based visits to patients with limited physical mobility that are unable to access RI’s supported PHC.
- He/she will be responsible for documenting the relevant data by filling out an assessment or follow-up form for each patient visit.
- He/she will coordinate with RI’s Clinical Psychologists when necessary and share relevant information concerning the patients.
- He/she will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and treating patients with mental health disorders. In addition, he/she will prescribe psychiatric medication, order tests and/or refer patients according to their needs.
- Follow up with beneficiaries to ensure that they are responding positively to treatment and make amendments to the treatment plan when necessary.
- Receive referrals from clinical Psychologists and other NGOs.
- Interview the patient to assess his/her general physical condition, and refer when needed for a more in depth medical evaluation.
- Order, when needed, laboratory, imagery or other special diagnostic tools, and follow up of the results.
- Treat or direct treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Respect when prescribing, as much as possible, the essential list of psychiatric medication.
- Refer patients to the hospital when needed upon consultation with the MH Coordinator.
- Psycho educate patient and his/her family.
- Follow up on the treatment evaluating the response to medication and the possible side effects and modify the treatment accordingly.
- Document the relevant data by filling out an assessment or follow-up form for each patient visit.
- Coordinate with Clinical Psychologists when necessary and share relevant information concerning the patients.
- Discharge patients from the program and refer them for the continuity of their treatment when stabilization is done.
- Keep track of patient numbers/cases through outpatient records, to be submitted at the end of every month.
- Attend periodical meetings with MH Coordinator, Social Worker, Psychologist and the multidisciplinary team of the clinic.
- Conduct on the job supervision observation for primary health care providers along with the trainer when required.
- Train GPs and other PHC staff on mhGAP
- Provide support and supervision following the mhGAP training for the trainees.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members and all internal or external parties.
- The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances.
- The job holder should be able to provide structured clinical assessments and develop consistent treatment plans.
Reporting and Documentation
- Monitors the psychological progress of the beneficiaries and refer cases to advanced therapy whenever required;
- Regularly update the Program Coordinator on the overall progress of the Mental Health indicators.
Miscellaneous
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members and all internal or external parties. Any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported to the Program Coordinator. The Job holder should avoid going into any work-related communication which might jeopardize the relationship of RI with any party;
- The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances;
- The Job holder should be able to provide structured clinical assessment plans and develop consistent treatment plans.
- Licensed Psychiatrist.
- Completed all necessary registration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Lebanese Order of Physicians (LoP).
- Specialized Trainings are a plus.
- Fluent in spoken Arabic.
- Previous NGO experience is a plus.
- Trained on mhGAP with previous support and supervision experience
- Personal interest in humanitarian work.
- Willing to adhere to clinic schedule.
- Good communication and teamwork skills
