Job Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Manager, the Information Officer is responsible for coordinating with the protection teams and other relevant stakeholders in areas of operation to ensure that Syrian refugees and other vulnerable population groups have access to up-to-date and accurate information on available services by sector and location and are supported to access services/assistance as required. The Information Officer will work closely alongside the protection monitoring team to identify information needs of crisis affected communities. In order to address information needs, the Information Officer will also be responsible for designing content that will be shared during protection information sessions. Protection information sessions will cover a range of topics, including access to health care, registration in schools, available humanitarian services and COVID-19 Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) as required. The Information Officer will design and deliver information dissemination materials in coordination with the Senior Protection Manager, including leaflets, posters, and messaging for social media. The Information Officer will also be responsible for maintaining information on available services and referral processes in North Lebanon in order to facilitate referrals through one-on-one meetings with refugees and Lebanese in need. The Information Officer will be required to actively reach out to key stakeholders including NGOs, civil society organizations and local authorities who provide services, in order to have a comprehensive overview of service provision in the area. As required the Information Officer will also provide support to the existing Referral Officer to make and track referrals, analyzing and seeking to address gaps in referral pathways.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the protection teams (according to the area protection monitoring team, case management team, legal team, Community Engagement activities, Senior Protection Manager and other relevant parties in IRC programming sectors) to obtain detailed and reliable information on key protection needs and information gaps.
- Support in ensuring continual community outreach, including through the pre-existing IRC PRoL Hotline.
- Conduct monthly visits with protection monitors and / or Legal officer to better understand information needs of crises affected communities,
- Develop a service map in the North Lebanon, on the services available for Lebanese and update the mapping on a quarterly basis.
- Design and implement information campaigns including the development of key messages, written and oral, with the support of the Senior Protection Manager (including leaflets, posters, and social media posts) according to needs identified through protection monitoring data;
- In coordination with the protection teams, network with community based organizations and social service providers to map available service updating it on a quarterly basis;
- In coordination with the existing Referral Officer, seek to strengthen existing referral pathways in the areas of operation.
- In coordination with the MEAL Officer, support in identifying and addressing, gaps in referral pathway.
- Conduct advocacy to local service providers regarding protection concerns in coordination with the Senior Protection Manager.
- Make referrals to relevant service providers including the UNHCR, MOSA through standardized referral system and conduct regular follow-up with service providers on referred cases;
- Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor;
- Ensure good coordination with relevant team member to produce regular analysis of the referral provision.
Job Requirements:
Work Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in an NGO/INGO associated to refugee crisis.
- Experience working for an international organization is preferred.
- Strong protection background and knowledge of refugee context, as well as demonstrated ability to identify and refer vulnerable cases, is desirable.
- Experience in regular report writing.

Education: Bachelor Degree (a degree in law, sociology, social work, anthropology, journalism or similar is preferable but not required)
Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic and English, Ability to communicate and write clearly in English strongly preferred

Working Environment: Located in Akkar - Qobayat, the working environment will be office based (50%), with some field work (50%) in other areas.
