Middle East Program Officer

Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) envisions a world where forcibly displaced people can use their skills and talents to move to secure futures. We work with governments, employers and partners to overcome the barriers that often prevent refugees from accessing skilled migration pathways. TBB seeks to be a catalyst for systems change in skilled migration, laying the groundwork for this solution to scale to serve millions of displaced people.

The Middle East Program Officer will play an integral role in ensuring the successful job recruitment and relocation processes of TBB’s refugee candidates from Jordan and Lebanon to Australia, Canada and the UK. Candidates will preferably be based in either Amman or Beirut and/or able to commute regularly to TBB’s offices in either city.

Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) is seeking a highly-motivated and detail-oriented team member who is eager to be part of an innovative initiative that is driving transformational change for refugees globally. This is a challenging position that requires excellent interpersonal skills, impeccable organizational capabilities, and a high level of personal initiative. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide case management to refugee candidates to assist them through the process of preparing for international employment and skilled migration. This could include but is not limited to: 
  • Using TBB technology to sort and identify potential job candidates
  • Conducting intakes of candidates and eligibility assessments for TBB’s program
  • Supporting candidates with resume building and interview preparation
  • Coordinating visa applications, and assisting in document collection and translation as needed,
  • Arranging language exams, biometrics, and medicals for travel
  • Explore and share creative solutions to address barriers preventing refugee access to skilled migration globally. 
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on program outcomes and actively contribute to global TBB learning, evaluation and reflection initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.  

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTITUDES

Essential

  • Fluency in both spoken and written Arabic and English required
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience, ideally related to project management, human resources, international development or humanitarian response. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, keep track of multiple priorities at once, monitor and record progress, etc
  • Experience and/or strong interest in international recruitment processes and ability to guide refugee candidates effectively, assisting with resume building, interview preparation, and etc. 
  • A clear communicator with a demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with all the types of stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in an international workplace and coordinating with teams across the globe. 
  • Strong cultural awareness and tolerance to diversity especially in the details pertaining to the refugee crisis and the Lebanese environment.
  • Passion for TBB’s mission and willingness to go the extra mile to achieve successful results.
  • Must exercise good judgment and be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively in order to deliver best outcomes.
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to use/learn to use a range of online collaborative tools (Salesforce, Slack, Google Suite, Trello etc).
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment, tolerance of rapid change and ambiguity. 

Desirable

  • Successful completion of relevant Bachelors’ or Masters’ level qualifications
  • Lived refugee experience.
