IPR Consultant– ACT SMART INNOVATION HUB STARTUPS

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and the company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.

The Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the Agri-tech sector.
2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

The Accelerator Program seeks an Intellectual Property Rights Consultant to deliver the following:

• Half-day workshop with the following outcome:

• Learn the importance of IP protection
• Learn how startups can protect confidential information
• IP protection – basic steps on registering a trademark, a patent, and a copyright
• IP Assets Identification - to decide the type of IP protection startups will need
• Know the key ingredient to competitive advantage
• Know the common IP mistakes inventors make
• IPR strategy design – teach startups on early stage IP setup and protection strategy

• Conduct 1-on-1 Clinics with the following outcome:

• Give startups personalized feedback on opportunities and threats surrounding their business from an IP perspective.
• Give startups the initial costs relating to each suggested action. 

• Conduct Prior Art search for startups

• Help startups determine if the aforementioned "systems" / "patents" are patentable and registrable.
• Help startups identify the closest prior arts and thus define the scope of protection in patent claims.
• Perform the due diligence exercise that can reduce the risk of rejection of the patent application.
• Due diligence to include all patent elements such as Title of Invention, Field of Invention, Background and the Object of Invention, Summary of the Invention, Drawing, Description of Drawing, Detailed Description of Invention, and Claims Drafting

• 10 years of relevant experience ideally in Lebanese IPR rules and regulations. International IPR experience will be highly valued.
• Proven prior experience delivering IPR consulting for startups
• Possess strong business acumen
• Possess strong consulting, training and communication skills
• Hands on experience managing the full training cycle
• Exceptional platform delivery and facilitation skills - ability to deliver training programs from existing materials and teach IPR-related training modules

Demonstrates strong communications skills and professional credibility to influence entrepreneurs
