Perform Security tasks

Conduct security assessments and threat analysis of operating environment ( CRR/SRA )

Provide advice to staff regarding relations with military and give recommendation on WV’s interaction with the military and law enforcement.

Develop a weekly security reports related to distributions

Keep staff informed about any security related developments by providing regular updates and provide security briefing to casual workers, Visitors and Partners.

Ensure the implementation of the minimum security management procedures and standards in the area of operations

Liaise with other NGO’s, UN agencies, government bodies and attend relevant security and safety meetings when requested by Risk Manager

Monitor staff movements tracking systems and provide regular info to staff on safety of their movement

Support in executing security and evacuation plans and procedures .

Assess the safety of new distribution and project implementation locations and send a report to Risk manager

Accompany staff / visitors as required including high risk / difficult locations

Check on the functioning of different materials (B-Gun-radios-Iridium...) and assign communications material to staff as appropriate

Be present during distributions, assessments, visits, etc in order to maximise staff and resources safety.

Staff, beneficiaries, and assets are safe all the time.

Handle Incidents’ reporting

Send incidents reports to Risk manager

Report critical security incidents on Ethics Point and notify relevant functional leads for their follow-up.

Follow-up on security related investigations as assigned by the risk manager

Incident reports are accurate and submitted on time

Proper follow-up is done by management to reported

Capacity Building

Support Risk Manager in building capacity of staff through conducting regular awareness sessions.

Support the risk manager in planning for and conducting field security training (SAINT)

Support in the planning and implementation of the Tactical Defensive Driving Training (TDDT)

Conduct training sessions related to the use of communications material such as radios..

Liaison with local authorities

Liaise with the local authorities and inform them about the distribution schedule when applicable.

Liaise with municipalities and ministries and any other authorities when requested by Risk Manager

Close coordination and exchange of information regarding the distributions and movements safety.

Perform other duties as required

Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events

Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture

Report CP incidents as per the safeguarding policy guidelines.

Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager

Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

1 to 2 years of experience in a similar job

Good communication skills

Proven ability to work effectively under pressure displaying sound initiative and good judgment

Required Education,

training, license,

certification

College degree in a field related to Social Sciences, Law, or Security Management or equivalent experience in a related field

Certified in basic life support, preferably on paramedic level.

Computer literate (MS Office)

Hold a valid driving license

Preferred Knowledge

and Qualifications

Proven security management skills, with emphasis on the unique security requirements of humanitarian aid work

Have a minimum of 5 years of NGO/UN, police or military field (operations) experience and at least 2 years of field security experience

Additional practical knowledge of tools and mechanisms and procedures for personal and organizational security in relevant specialist areas such as security in the field, security communications, physical security, critical incident management, occupational safety and security training

Direct personal experience of working successfully in hostile environments or under difficult operational circumstances
