Action for Rural Economic Development (ARED), in partnership with WeWorld-GVC and JPII, is a
project that aims at contributing to stability in Lebanon, by promoting local development,
improving the socio-economic conditions, and reducing the levels of conflict in North East Bekaa.
The program aims to:
1. Generate employment opportunities by revitalizing and diversifying the local economy in
targeted sectors with local potential, reaching to new markets and making it resilient to
external shocks and notably targeting youth and women
2. Strengthen the capacities of local actors to engage in the promotion of local economic
development whilst promoting stability and participatory action in the region
This is done through improving irrigation, agricultural value chains, producer aggregation, capacity
building for public institutions and supporting small and medium businesses in the region.
The Nawaya Network will be:
● Providing business training and coaching to 250 MSMEs (with a special focus on youth
and women), and grants to 100 MSMEs that work along the targeted value chains in the
area of North East Bekaa
● Providing business training to 7 farmer cooperatives and producer organizations
reaching 250 individuals and 100 non-aggregated farmers related to topics such as
finance, marketing, sales...
● Creating a regional brand for the products and facilitating access to market, both locally
and internationally
● Providing internship opportunities to 30 Business Support Specialists from the area
through the apprenticeship program to facilitate employment by organizations in the
region
● Creating a peer-to-peer program that will bring together all the beneficiaries of the
program as well as other stakeholders to ensure relevant exchange between them
concerning the value chains
Main Business Coach Responsibilities:
● Creates and designs curriculum/business modules tailored to the needs of farmers and MSMEs
in the North East Bekaa region
● Designs the course material, selects the most effective methodologies and evaluates the flow
of sessions/modules while ensuring the achievement of the training objectives
● Conducts design thinking, business development and various types of agribusiness-related
training and incubation sessions in specific locations in north east Bekaa while making sure the
beneficiaries are trained and incubated at the location most convenient for them
● Helps tailor coaching content to beneficiaries needs by groups (batches) by identifying
networking needs that are Internal and External
● Identifies networking opportunities for farmers (individuals or cooperatives) and links them to
potential buyers and suppliers while ensuring a proper follow-up in that regard
● Follows up regularly with the individual farmers and cooperatives whereby check-in sessions
are provided before starting new training modules
● Follows up with the funded MSMEs regarding the requests for capacity building and for
purchase of supplies with the direct oversight done by the Project Manager
● Guides all beneficiaries through the most effective marketing and outreach strategy which will
directly affect the sustainability level
● Attends graduations in each area, assists the judging panel to choose MSMEs for incubation
based on specific set of predefined criteria
● Assists the MSMEs that will be interviewed and helps them in preparing their pitch deck in
front of the judging panel
● Conducts quarterly (or upon request) one-on-one check-ins with MSMEs that completed
incubation to ensure everything is going smoothly and provides guidance when needed
● Ensures that reliable and quality data is being collected as requested by the M&E Specialist and
entered on the internal databases in a timely manner
● Reports any success/interesting stories for marketing and communication department
Requirements:
● Education: Business degree - preferably in Agribusiness or a similar degree
● Experience: At least 3 years working experience in the field of business coaching (agribusiness
is a plus)
● Competencies: Experience in Communicating with various beneficiaires, Organizing events,
Experience in coaching/ public speaking, Assisting in developing Training Material , Business
ability , Self-discipline, Ability to deal eloquently and effectively with internal and external
stakeholders, Organizational Behavior, Process and Result oriented.
● Languages: English, Arabic ( Mandatory), French ( is a plus)
