I. INTRODUCTION
Project Background Information
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 and had started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
LRI is currently implementing the “Improving Livelihood Through Forestry-Phase 4” project in the framework of the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) supported by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project aims to:
- Extend forest cover and fire protection through reforestation and forest management activities while improving the livelihoods of Lebanese and Syrian men and women in vulnerable communities in the North.
- Build local capacity and developing best reforestation, forest management and eco-tourism practices.
The project is implementing a community-based reforestation, forest management program in the North Governorate of Lebanon, in Minnieh-Dunnieh and Akkar districts.
II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
LRI is seeking a full-time Junior Field Officer for the North region for the period of 6 months from July 1st, 2021, till December 31, 2021. The Junior Field Officer will be based in the Akkar-North region to help the project team ensure smooth work progress and compliance with the donor’s requirements.
The Junior Field Officer is expected to coordinate the implementation of the project activities with the Senior Field Officer and the different site supervisors and report back to the Project Coordinator and Project Manager on project progress.
The Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:
- Coordinate the on-site activities with the related site supervisors and participants.
- Ensure that the project’s conditions and regulations are being followed.
- Data collection and progress reporting after each cycle.
- Conduct daily monitoring visits to all sites.
- Report daily on the work progress of work.
- Receive/check the attendance booklets and pictures from the sites on daily basis.
- Represent LRI during the E-cards distribution.
- Assist the donor’s team during their monitoring visits.
- Support in any project-related activities on site or in the office.
III. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES
Specific deliverables include but are not limited to:
- Daily reports on work progress, daily scanned attendance booklets and daily pictures of the sites.
- Daily monitoring visits.
- Monthly progress reports and data collection.
- Report daily on the work progress of work.
- Receive/check the attendance booklets and pictures from the sites on daily basis.
- Represent LRI during the E-cards distribution.
- Assist the donor’s team during their monitoring visits.
- Support in any project-related activities on site or in the office.
IV. REQUIREMENTS
The Field Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- Good academic and proven practical knowledge in the field of community mobilization, coordination of community activities, social work, forestry, or any related field.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working with rural communities.
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skill.
- Willingness to travel daily to the project sites in Akkar, using his/her own car.
- Based in Akkar.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
