TIF - Call for Internship

Project Background:

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Lebanon Trade and investment Facilitation (TIF) Activity will facilitate the export of Lebanese goods and services to generate foreign exchange through investments and business enabling environment reform that simultaneously promote job creation, income generation, and improved livelihoods throughout the country. TIF has three objectives: 1) increased exports of Lebanese goods and services, 2) investment facilitation leading to increased domestic investment, and 3) improved business and investment enabling environment. Communicating results through outreach and sharing knowledge with private and public sectors is a crosscutting objective.

PURPOSE

TIF is looking for 10 paid Interns to support overall TIF team. Interns will be tasked 40 hours a week in the following areas:

Videography Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • Develop concepts for TIF social media videos
  • Shoot and edit videos for different platforms and purposes
  • Transcribe and translate TIF videos
  • Support in other communication-related tasks

Qualifications

  • BA degree in communications or multimedia studies, or in any related field.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in shooting and editing videos for multimedia channels.
  • Proven ability to create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers.

 

Database Administration Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • Help to develop a customer relationship management (CRM) database of Lebanese organizations, associations, business owners and other relevant entities that can be targeted for communications regarding TIF procurements, activities, events, and trainings.
  • Maintain an up to date database contacts according to sector interest. This will include cleaning and updating existing database.
  • Ensure functionality of TIF CRM.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in social sciences, computer sciences or similar studies.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in designing projects database.
  • Familiarity CRM software.

 

Laws and Regulations Assessment Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • Help identify, map, and assess Laws, Regulations and Standards related to the business environment in Lebanon, particularly the four abovementioned sectors. 
  • Help create and update tracking sheets documenting the regulatory findings and their status.
  • Research and synthesize Laws and Regulations.
  • Participate in the preparation of workshops and webinars.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Law

 

Access to Finance Investment Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • With guidance from the Investment team, implement activities to facilitate investments to finance/recapitalize firms operating in TIF sectors leading to increased domestic investment.
  • Support in engaging in business development activities by sourcing, screening, and selecting potential companies that meet TIF criteria.
  • Support Investment Team in regular visits/meeting for selected companies and request specified information for investment evaluation criteria.
  • Assist in managing companies’ relationships with TIF.       
  • Support in coordinating and implementing investment advisory services and support investment transactions.   
  • Support in preparing investment training and workshops that share new financial innovations related to TIF sectors from different global financial markets with local service providers and ecosystem actors.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Finance

 

Business Development Intern (4 positions)

One intern per sector:

  1. Agro-Food Processing, 2.) Manufacturing, 3.) Knowledge Economy, and 4.) Tourism and Hospitality

Tasks

  • Conduct market research on each sector or subsector to validate information.
  • Support with outreach activities
  • Conduct site visits and do surveys for potential partners and their supported entities based on BDS directions
  • Assist TIF team of Business Development Specialists in following up with partners and grants implementation
  • Collect data needed for grants team upon request.
  • Preparing reports upon request.
  • Support the team in preparing workshop and roundtables.
  • Research and synthesize Laws and Regulations.
  • Participate in the preparation of workshops and webinars.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA in Business Administration or any other relevant field

 

Procurement Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • Support the procurement team with screening,
  • Conduct market research for grants’ activities and complete bid evaluation matrices,
  • Assist in maintaining SharePoint and TAMIS (projects databases) up to date.

Qualifications

  • BA in Business Administration or any other relevant field

 

Grants Intern (1 position)

Tasks

  • Support the grants team with screening,
  • Assist in collecting and reviewing grantees’ legal documents,
  • Assist in maintaining SharePoint and TAMIS (projects databases) up to date,
  • Conduct follow-up and site visits to grantees’ facilities and attend project activities.

Qualifications:

  • BA in business administration or any other relevant field

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrated excellent English verbal and writing skills.
  • Fluent in Arabic.
  • Good direct communication skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Lebanon.
