Socio-Economic Enhance and Development (SEED) is a non-profit, secular, and non-governmental organization based in Tripoli, North Lebanon.
The core value of SEED is to empower individuals and communities in order to create an independent and prosperous society. We give people a hand up, not a hand out. The way we do this is through projects offering education, equipping people with vocational skills, and providing information on matters such as health and legal. We encourage volunteering and delivery of services by the community, for the community.
Period of Performance: 80h over 2 months (August – September).
The role:
As part of a broader EU-funded program (AEEE Youth) in cooperation with the Slovakian PIN NGO, SEED NGO offers a series of language upgrade courses targeting 12 grade students in Tripoli to enhance their access to higher education and future job opportunities.
We’re looking for an English teacher/Academic IELTS instructor for in-person classes to train 12 grade students to acquire their respective IELTS scores.
Specific tasks:
- Conduct an initial level assessment to build a relevant curriculum.
- Organize, plan and prepare engaging and stimulating course and lesson materials and activities suited to the age range and aiming at developing all four components of learning (Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening).
- Attend weekly meetings with the staff and with the other English teachers for better coordination and good practices exchange.
- Keep attendance and produce a final evaluation report including evaluation of students’ progresses and knowledge gains.
Qualifications and skills
- At least 2 years of ESL / IELTS teaching experience.
- Understanding of all areas of the IELTS and self-updating on the latest exam trends.
- Minimum Master degree in English Literature/Linguistics or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3 years experience.
- Student handling skills; previous experience working with high-schools students is preferred.
