JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance is an active member of the executive team with a guidance role in Caritas Lebanon’s strategic financial decision-making and a fiduciary responsibility to protect its assets and reputation.
The Director of Finance is responsible for setting and implementing the strategic financial goals of the organization by developing, monitoring, and evaluating plans and results; enforcing control.
Develop and implement financial systems and procedures; ensure compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning, Financial Analysis and Risk Management
- Serve as key member of executive leadership team and participate in organizational decisions that contribute to the implementation of its strategic vision
- Devise and implement the yearly financial plan and be an active member of the executive team who develops the multi-year strategic and operational plans, being responsible for ensuring and monitoring delivery against the financial plans through targeted financial analytical reviews and forecasts.
- Ensure that the accounts are aligned with the international norms, standards and general accounting procedures. Make sure that main policies and procedures are well understood and properly implemented
- Ensure that Caritas Lebanon is operating with a maintainable cost base, focusing on cost effectiveness and cash flow, taking into account cost savings and strategic role.
- Guarantee adherence to financial management policies and procedures and compliance with legal and grant regulations; revising monthly variation reports with President and Executive Director to understand grants performance issues.
- Ensure timely presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure the timely preparation of financial and statistical reports to government, other concerned parties, partners and donors.
- Assess and evaluate financial performance of Caritas Lebanon with respect to strategic plan and goals, and provide analysis to the executive team on a regular basis.
- Set yearly financial milestones and objectives with executive team that align with organizational medium and long term goals and annual revenue projections and budget, monitor and make recommendations for adjustments throughout the year.
- Work on unifying the chart of accounts in all CL operations, Social Enterprise, sectors, program and projects in order to have standard and unified financial reports forms and to prepare consolidated income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements on quarterly and monthly basis
- Train and develop the Chief Accountants and Accountants within all CL operations and projects on the newly updated and implemented chart of accounts and all the new newly designed financial reports
- Coordinate with the ERP implementation project leader to properly implement of the Job Costing module and new financial module of the new ERP and integrate it within the overall accounting and financial planning of the group in a way to optimize the cost evaluation and increase the implementation efficiency of all the contracted projects and Grants
- Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities
Accounting and Financial Management
- Provide leadership and guidance to finance and accounting staff in headquarter and offices
- Manage overall financial operations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with regulatory and donor requirements
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures at headquarters and in field offices
- Oversee tax functions and ensure compliance with tax laws.
- Coordinate audits with independent auditors and regulatory agencies
- Enhance and implement financial systems, policies, procedures and tools
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Academic
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance or any related field
- Preferably a Masters degree or any related certificate (CPA)
Related Work Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience, with 5 years in a similar capacity as a senior financial manager and team leader
- Demonstrated experience with financial statement preparation as well as strategic financial analysis
- Experience in financial accounting and reporting for NGOs.
- Experience in strategic financial planning and leading the annual budget process, as well as annual financial audits
