Community Engagement WORKER – WATER PROGRAM – BEKAA (2 Positions)_(National Contract)

WeWorld-GVC has been working in Lebanon since 2006 and is now supporting vulnerable populations through emergency WASH, shelter, basic assistance and protection interventions as well as Water Governance and Local Economic Development programs aiming at increasing the resilience of the concerned communities, in the Bekaa Valley and Akkar.

Job Title: Community Engagement WORKER – WATER PROGRAM – BEKAA (2 Positions)_National Contract

Reporting to: Area Program Coordinator

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Community Engagement WORKER will contribute to the implementation of the Water Governance projects, closely working with the partner organizations and institutions and ensure accountability to We world-GVC s’ policies and donor rules and regulations. The Community Engagement WORKER will work to bridge the gap between Municipalities – Bekaa Water Establishment and Water Users, build trust and foster the accountability of all parties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaise regularly with key stakeholders to build WW-GVC acceptance within local communities and assure their participation in the program implementation
• Organize and moderate meetings with public institutions (Municipalities and Unions of Municipalities, Water establishment), and community engagement sessions with main stakeholders
• Conduct mediation and conflict resolution whenever requested, advising Program Staff for conflict prevention and mitigation;
• Participate and supervise in data collection activities (baseline surveys, monitoring, etc.)
• Plan, supervise and monitor outreach activities (community engagement and awareness campaigns) implemented directly and by local partners;
• Assist in the production and dissemination of communication material such as banners, brochures, newsletters, social media posts, etc.;
• Assist in filing and record keeping of program activities (attendance sheets, MOU, etc.);
• Prepare and submit weekly reports and documentation for activities to the Area Program Coordinator;
• Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to WW-GVC and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
• Collaborate and coordinate with other WW-GVC personnel and departments, including MEAL, finance and logistics.
• Other assigned tasks, as necessary to the projects and WW-GVC activities.

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position (community mobilization, civil society engagement, development projects etc.)
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Creativity and willingness to adjust to changes and new requirements
• Strong team spirit, together with ability to work independently respecting deadlines
• Prior experience in or deep knowledge of the Area of Intervention
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
• Driving license is a must.
